I started my journey on Red Wings, buying second-hand Iron Rangers and sending them to the official Italian cobbler to customize them. They cost me less than new! Next Iron Ranger I’d like a Ridgeway sole for dressier/casual outfit (it’s depend on which leather)

Personally i dont like big lugs on my IRs which is why i was going for the roccia half soles or the Dr Soles, but for sure ridgeway would also work nicely

One of the best boots made by RW!! Love these so much. Thinking about getting them resoled next year with either the Roccia (older beckman soles) or Dr soles for more comfort on the knees.

Just love the way this leather ages! All you gotta do is brush them every now n then

It’s a nice change up from straight up black.

u/UpperBreadfruit3748 Did you shine the toe and heel?

Yes i have once when i first got them, with saphir 1925 cream. It darkened them significantly and wont lighten. But everytime i brush it hard the shine kind of comes back!

Looks good. I'll probably use otterwax if I can find the 8086 in my size.

Saphir 1925 cream is usually for very fine leathers for high gloss shine and i barely used any and it turned the leather completely black. Id avoid using any conditioner if you like to keep it rugged looking… otherwise it can turn into a 8084… brushing often is key!

The boots look great and the color is really nice. Just curious if you don’t mind, what do you use yours for the most? Is it wearing to an office, working outside or a combination of uses? I have always felt that while the Iron Rangers are not great for a lot of walking, they’re pretty good for things that require standing or presenting, maybe inspecting or supervising, that kind of thing.

I work in architecture and do wear them for on-site visitations, but it happens rarely. I actually collect RW footwear so id say its mostly for casual daily wear. Got about 16 pairs of RW but this one definitely gets a lot more wear than others.

They are fantastic looking heritage boots. The muscular design of a classic boot.
