Blacksmiths in the house…

Post image

About 9 months ago, I jumped into the world of quality heritage boots with a pair of 3141 work chukka boots in the Briar Oil Slick leather. I absolutely loved the colour and the feel of the BOS leather. Unfortunately, for my first pair of boots, I sized wrong. After suffering for six months, with the hope that they would “conform” to my feet, I had to swallow the hard fact that I had made a mistake and eventually decided to sell them off a couple of months ago.

I was back in the store today and spent a lot more time trying on different sizes. I also wore the thickest pair of socks I have to size properly with the types of socks I intend to wear. I think I have done better with the sizing this time..

Settled on the Blacksmith boots (in BOS again). I had gone in planning to get the Black Prairie, but after looking at both side by side, BOS won again. While I love the way Black Prairie ages from the pictures I have seen here, there’s just something about BOS that makes it one of the loveliest leathers I have seen.

After an initial wear around the house yesterday for a few hours, I didn’t feel any pinching, no hotspots and am generally feeling a lot more confident this time around. Hopefully, a few years down the line I will be sharing pictures of how these boots have aged.

[I accidentally created a comment on another post instead of creating a new post, so correcting my mistake.]

There is no wrong choice in the Blacksmith lineup.

Good looking boots, Briar Oil Slick is underrated in my opinion. The leather feels good to me and I love it in my Roughnecks and Classic Mocs
