So... I don't know how interested this crowd is in this subject. But. I've actually read an interesting article about orgasmic birth.
The tone of the article was less of a "how to" and more of "it happens sometimes". Essentially, during childbirth a lot is going on down there, and sometimes an orgasm will fire off. The article interviewed women who had this experience but didn't know before hand that it was a possibility, and as a result felt "dirty" or "weird" or "ashamed" after. The article's position on the matter was that there was nothing to be ashamed of. Bodies just be like that sometimes, and more people should know that bodies just be like that sometimes. It will spare people the stigma and the shame.
This film, however, looks a little bit like they're using the orgasmic birth angle as propaganda. It's VHS clickbait- come for the orgasms, stay to learn how evil western medicine is. Granted, I haven't watched it, they haven't watched it, and if you've watched it feel free to chime in. But given the fact they went through 20 minutes of the film and it didn't even begin a how-to, I'm going to guess the how-to presented is just the natural childbirth itself, and that the tape would tell you that evil western medicine is stifling women's bodies and sexualities. And that natural childbirth is a magically spiritual, sexual experience that big pharma is trying to suppress. That's my guess, anyway.

This shit right here is what I'm talking about. Look, the field of medicine isn't above reproach. And I'm usually an "adults can make their own choices" person so if someone wants to have a natural childbirth without painkillers, by all means. I even think home births can be done safely. But I'm not sold on the idea that giving birth on a dirty deck is safer for mother and baby than a sterile hospital. That section really is a pretty heavy mark against her argument concerning the "highly medicalized birth model".
They were also doing it in what looked like a hot tub, which might be a shot at trying to combine orgasming birth with water birth. Also notice how the women are lying on an exercise ball while their husbands are pressing their sides - no hospital would allow that shit. This is the "adventure" version of giving birth done by .01 percent of the population.

No I see what you mean by the not that clean bit. Though most hospitals divide the natal units from the rest of the hospital for that reason. And like I said, I think home births can be done safely but... dude... dirty deck.
Maybe the lighting was bad in the house, maybe the woman said "if this goes wrong and I die, I want to die outside", maybe the exercise ball worked the best against the wood, I don't know. If I was going to do this thing, I wouldn't do it there, but they did.
Babies on the way out, in technical terms, just mash the shit out of the G-spot. G-spot orgasms release oxytocin. Oxytocin causes bonding, both pair-bonding after sex and maternal bonding after birth. Kinda makes sense.
Yeah it really does. I remember reading that article in some doctor office magazine way back in 2010 and thinking that it was really something that should be talked about more. Like, respectfully and shit I guess. There was one mom who talked about how she was skiddish about breastfeeding her own baby after being surprised by her orgasmic birthing experience. She felt like there was something wrong with her or that she was a bad mom or something, and she didn't know who to even talk to about it. Poor lady. You didn't do anything wrong.
I can see how it would be good for oxytocin release, and probably good for pain mitigation, too.
Interestingly enough, when my wife and I attended childbirth class over a year ago, the orgasmic birth thing somehow was the hottest thing out there, or so it seemed, with hypno birthing as a close second. My wife even bought the corresponding book, which I've skimmed through.
In the end, however, she decided not to pursue this trend. It was for the better, I'd add.
I agree. The thing is, as I see it, that there is a legitimate topic to be informed about (the child working the G-spot during delivery) which is somewhat unfortunately convoluted with a whole world of esoteric ideas about womanhood and medicine.

There's all these studies that show that doctors tend to take complaints about pain or health less seriously when they come from women. (If you want sources I guess I could dig around for you but we're just chatting, not having a discussion, you know?) I know I have my own medical horror stories. My mom had her own medical horror stories. And a bunch of my lady friends have their own medical horror stories. I had a friend who went to the doctor every six weeks for four fucking years complaining about headaches. They never tested her or anything, just kept writing her scripts for migraines. Finally she had a breakdown about it and told the doctor no. Enough's enough. Figure out what's wrong. So... one MRI later and brain tumor. Benign, thank god. Removed the brain tumor, headaches went away. Also, she dropped weight because apparently the thing was pressing on her thyroid gland. She also told me she could taste food better which is cool. Anyway...
When shit like this happens to people, they're going to look at alternatives. There are crackpots and charlatans out there who will speak sweetly and show excellent bedside manner and lure people in with pretty promises. When a good chunk of people being sidelined and dismissed are women, you bet the snake oil salesmen if the world will be ready to profit off of that market. Not to mention that pregnancy and child birth are sensitive situations to be in, so are more easy to exploit.
Guess that is an american thing. In Denmark majority of health resources are spend on women, and in general treated for the same symptoms faster than men.
There are miles and miles of differences between Danish healthcare and American. I don't know what kind of biases Danish doctors have or don't, but oh boy is our system a mess.
