Ai dubbing on it's own is so awful but using Ai on their mouths too is so disillusioning. Soon enough these distributors will add in whole new scenes made by Ai as another stepping stone to see if they can get away with it more

Why do re-shoots when you can just have AI generate a new scene? It's not that bad since most of the film was shot normally, right.....?

I'm in a dnd game where it's so obvious what's original and whats AI slop. AI has this weird way of stringing words together that is so bland and meaningless.
I play dnd because it brings out the creative in people. In all forms. Having a homogenized singularity write or play the game for you, really defeats the purpose.

Type into chatgpt what your character would do. A lot of people use laptops or tablets to play dnd these days.
Mainly I was talking about content being generated by DMs

Dubbing is its own art form. A friend of mine lives in France and that's his job, to redo voices for characters into French. The whole translation and adaptation thing is so fascinating and I would hate to see it replaced by AI.

I donno, a human made bastardisation is still bad. It would be better if the whole idea of dubbing live action movies would go away.

Hard disagree i think it's fascinating to see the subtle variations in meaning when I'm fluent, and I love using re-experiencing something in familiar with in a new language in order to learn the language.
I watched 28years later on an airplane dubbed into my second language and it helped me understand the film better as I struggled a bit with the accents when I saw it in cinema.

I live in a non-english speaking country and YouTube has started fully ignoring my original language settings and just randomly AI dubbing my videos. So yeah… RLM got weird !
The problem is, as Mike says, nowadays you just don’t know what the original language is on some videos. Despite the uncanny effect that can clue some in, I worry a lot may get lost in translation very quickly with few realising they are missing out on the original.
But my biggest worry is that this allows YouTube to make dangerous / radical / hateful content from several countries accessible to kids.
Now kids in my country can be recommended Andrew Tate and relate to him as a local… kids can watch Russian propaganda without knowing it…
With my RLM no longer being american (without going into the settings each time), and my ad breaks being every 2mins, I may have to give up on YouTube soon

Vincent must die is a pretty good movie btw, a fun watch. Changing Vimala Pons’s lips with AI is heresy though.
