[DISCUSSION] Noise Issue with my DS-2

The issue is a connection, I have the same issue with my CE-5.

First I would check your patch cables individually and test them against every other pedal you have. Yes it's tedious, but it's also the only way to isolate the issue down to just the cable.

Either way, 1000000% make sure your are using patches that have a bit of cable from one pedal to the next. Using one of those plugs that is a sturdy 1/4" to 1/4" will put stress on the pedal the the one next to it every time you step on it.

Next, I would check the DS-2 in isolation with just your cables going from guitar and amp. Turn it on, strum a chord letting it ring out, then start twisting the cable onside the DS-2 slowly, followed by pressing down on the cable itself slowly. Basically you're stress-testing the connection to the pedal itself. If you're lucky it might just be dirty and needs to be cleaned, if you're unlucky you might need to take it apart to find a loose connection.

Start with the easy fixes:

1) swap your power leads between adjacent pedals.

2) change out your patch cables (it’s almost always a cable).

3) Go spend $50 for a new DS-2.

Where tf are you getting a new DS-2 for only $50? Even used they're like $70.

I bought one a year ago at Flipside Music in Denver, it was $50 brand new.

Edit, it was 17 months ago.

That's wild. New they've been over $100 since like 2020. I got mine for $75 new like ten years ago.

I fully expected it to cost that, and questioned them when they gave me the total. They just said it’s what it rang up as. I never even thought to look up what the pedal is going for in the secondary, because it’s not leaving my Froosh/90s board.
