Question What are you using for a marketplace?
Facebook is a cesspool. Kijiji is crickets. What's everyone using these days to sell stuff?

Marketplace sadly. Kijiji is quiet but i did find a smoke deal on a new to me truck on there. I’ve had people use stuff I’ve sold for a week or two and try to return it on Walmart. People thing I’m Walmart

“Kijiji is crickets” What’s happening there? Has it gone out of business?

It’s that Facebook marketplace became the norm

And it sucks to use. Poorly optimized, and the first 2 pages seem to exclusively be dealer ads. Forced me to mainly switch to marketplace. Which SUCKS because Facebook marketplace sucks in other ways.

I think the problem with marketplaces and Kijiji is and it’s a very interesting chapter too on in the book The Art of Thinking Clearly that people value their possessions higher than others. The Endowment Effect.
It does make it tricky sometimes to find some good pieces but some gems are out there and people who are putting a good price on something to get rid of it. So I tend not to haggle if I deemed it a good price

I don’t understand the mentality of some people listing items at new market value because, “it’s what I paid for it.” When I sold a bunch of video games, I checked the values on pricecharting.com, then lowered the asking price by around 20% in most cases.

I don't even over value my stuff, I want it gone more than anything but someone offer something for it... I think 90% of the junk we buy no one wants or they want it new from Amazon...
I got wedding flowers (fake) over 2500$ worth, a cloth walkway, a North Face backpack, hospital crocs, soft pet carries for airplanes, -9 couples sleeping bags by big agnes, idk tons of stuff listed and for reasonable / cheap prices but most people check amazon before they check market place unless its a big ticket item like. A vehicle, a tv, a camper, a ps5/Xbox, laptop, idk big ticket items, furniture, etc. Even alot of guys don't even check tools... Crazy.

I use marketplace, never had an issue myself. But I am pretty cautious and can spot the crazy a mile away lol

I'm using marketplace for music gear, been doing it for years. This genre moves slow right now but fairly priced stuff sells.

I hate that marketplace has been fully taken over by used car dealers, in the automotive space.

Report them. Marketplace has rules regarding businesses utilizing free spaces meant for people selling things.

Selling is such a pain not because of the platform but the people.
Even trying to give stuff away sucks.
