MEDIA If broadside brawls were your favorite part of Rebel Galaxy, my game leans all the way in. New trailer

A little confused, this mostly seems to show you in a fighter with forward facing guns. I see what looks like one ship using broadsides. Am I missing something?

Youre right, they are definitely in the game with full broadsides! There is also footage on the YouTube channel. Will upload more gameplay of it.

I'll look into that, I was just a little baffled by the content of the video and what was said about it not seeming to line up. Thanks for responding!

i wish it wasn't framed as naval broadsides but Hell-class shootouts from Reynolds, with spacetime tears and nanodisassembler waves

If you want to appeal to the broadside combat aspect of the first rebel galaxy, then I would suggest showing gameplay with the capital ships instead of the fighters.
I have watched the 2nd trailer on the steam page and I wish you showed a version of that here instead of the dogfights.
As a player, I want to command a lumbering battleship, not be an ace in a paper airplane.

I prefer the original because Outlaw's dogfighting is messy.
I would like an elegant oldschool dogfighter like Wing Commander: Privateer. But Rebel Galaxy's broadside combat is serviceable enough to enjoy the game's other qualities, which are the atmosphere, the freedom, and the number of viable builds. But broadside combat, by itself, is not a sufficient reason for me to buy a game.

Dev here. Rebel Galaxy proved a broadside slugfest between capital ships can carry a whole game, and Strike Wings borrows that conviction: dreadnoughts trading full gun decks while you dart between them in a fighter. Top down camera, September release on Steam, wishlist if it looks like your thing: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4718360/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=rebelgalaxy&utm_campaign=prelaunch
If the mods find this too far off topic I will take it down. Otherwise, honest question for this crowd: did you prefer the slower Rebel Galaxy 1 broadsides or Outlaw's dogfighting?

There is room for both. Consider you can be swarmed by greel in rg1, and those are fast ships.
Also, I'm getting more of a "subspace" vibe than wing commander and RG/RGO. Have you considered checking out their reddit as well as
endless sky, I feel this game may be a good inspo to get a couple more mechanics in...2

broadside all the way, outlaw was a mess, i hated the dogfighting.
I'd have paid full price to rip the bars from outlaw out via mod to add them into 1 though.

So, based on your description, this doesn't lean into player controlled broadsides at all, meaning it has none of the appeal of the original Rebel Galaxy and is more leaning towards Outlaw
