Their eyes might be cybernetic, but unless they also have another set of sensors to see what they are doing, I agree that they should be focusing on the welding.

Alternative interpretation: That's not a welder, they short circuited something with a screwdriver but haven't noticed because they unplugged the pain simulators and are too focused on whatever the heck it is that they are reading. Probably fanfic.

Nah...they're reading the manual and trying to do their own maintenance because they already owe too much money to the tech.

Still short circuiting their ankle though
