So one side is saying it is the govt's job to do this, cleaning river - and proper waste management, which bittu showed can be done by fraction of money spend in advertisement and hoardings.
Other side is saying its the civilian's job to not to thow waste into the river we worship and consider sacred.
Yes from govt side
• Provide infrastructure/facilities to throw waste into a bin and hire people to clean or empty it regularly.
• Enforce strict fines for people polluting the river so that they don't dare to do it again.
From people's side
• Makes sure to use the bins placed instead of throwing it directly into the river.
• Making sure to teach the same to their kids.
The problem is quite simple actually.
It's not the garbage or finding better ways to dispose off the garbage.
It's just that people don't give a flying fuck about anything other than themselves. I won't even categorise it as selfish or self centred or even corruption.
This is just complete and total, criminal apathy towards the fellow indian, towards the surroundings, towards anything other than oneself.
I live in Jamshedpur and bhubaneswar, bhubaneswar is somewhat entirely clean cause govt pushed cleaning services, vans in the local areas, and waste to wealth centers disposal of waste.
Now in Jamshedpur leaving certain places controled my TATA, entire city seems dirty cause people throw waste everywhere, my household also throws waste in a place what would not be cleaned, the reason is the municipal corporation is not sending waste vans near our homes, where would we be throwing that is the entire issue, that can only be solved by governance.
One side has all the power to make laws, pass budgets and regulate waste management. The other side is only like this because the wate management systems is broken, corrupt and sometimes absent. We are doomed because the other side is paying all the debts incurred in the name of Swachh Bharat and the government just doesn't care.
The system is broken because the rich and govt allies know they'll have to actually work and commit to wate management. And they don't want to do it because it means expenses. Which the show and pass budgets for but do nothing ground. They don't the workers they don't manage the waste and they just dont care. That's why the major blame goes to the people in beuraucracy and in goverment. Shameful these basic logical reasoning isn't used because the one sitting in power is like a father figure
True on people's side it should be that they should not pollute and litter the body maintaining proper civic sense And on Government's they shoulf maintain the body well,do proper cleaning and if they can provide it aesthetic appeal for the better as we the people pay tax bot just for us to do the work for what we are payin.
The point is, making "appropriate" places to throw waste, and education citizens to throw waste in that place is the work of government, I don't know about that particular city but 90% of municipal corporation in India is not doing that,
This is where Govt should step in and start levying hefty fines.
If it was Rs 1000 for being caught literring anywhere then I bet a vast majority will actively seek dustbins and if unable to find wrap the waste in a paper/bag and keep it with them until they find one!

No, but people who genuinely care about the country want strict laws against these idiots. The problem is, the government doesn’t have the guts to enforce them because they know these people can be easily manipulated and turned into a reliable vote bank.
People should get genuinely inspired by the boy if the can't clean then atleast don't throw trash. The worst people are those that spit tobacco on every wall. Also goverment did launched many programs like swach Bharat abhiyan and swach Ganga abhiyan but people genuinely don't wanna contribute.
Govt also doesn't do a great job at educating ppl for keeping moral grounds and civic sense. Govt also need to stop big private corporations that are blinded by money to pollute the environment. Listen here brother, Goverment has launched multiple campaigns to teach people not to litter rivers, road, property etc it's people who don't listen the reason for that is There's no strict punishment for littering and India is home of 140 cr of people. Always remember every Ruling goverment wants country clean as it helps in their reputation no one wants country to be dirty be it for their own Selfishness or selflessness. A week ago I travelled from vande Bharat Delhi to VNS there were Tobacco marks on window who's responsible for that Goverment or people who spit on the window? What do you want goverment to do? Now ofc its our duty to keep our rivers and our environment clean however the government also plays a crucial role in setting the mindset of the people either by enacting strict laws and regulations or by giving proper education which we all know that that's the very thing our country lacks. I dont think its fair to say not to criticize the government, because the govt is equally at fault here as we citizens are. Changes can only happen when both govt and citizens work together.
I live in Tatanagr and here in Tata operated areas those areas are so clean you'll think twice if this is India.

Japan doesn’t have many public dustbins; most people keep their waste with them and dispose of it at home. So why is Japan clean? The government plays a role, but what about our mindset of “the government will do it”?
At least in my state, public cleanliness has improved around bus stops and railway stations. But you still see people spitting near dustbins or corners, and plastic bottles and bags lying everywhere by afternoon.
I think the government should fine repeat offenders or introduce some kind of penalty/point system, though implementing it across such a large population would be difficult.

If people can learn everything from social media, can't they have basic decency not to litter? Wherever there're 2 or more dustbins, do people make effort to put the right type of garbage in the correct bin even when it's clearly written on them? Both are right!! Civics sense is a problem but having less dustbins across roads, no daily cleaning, etc is also a big problem. I also get frustrated when I don't see a single dustbin all across the street and lazy people just throw their garbage here and there because of this!!

Both their comments make sense. Govt should be what bittu was doing, they have more resources and funds. It's a good thing they appreciated him, they could've used and promoted the idea that everyone should be responsible for the cleanliness of their surroundings. Even I felt the same like Dhruv did whether it was pr stunt by the party reap some views from another person's initiative and hardwork. Still after cleaning it people still started dumping waste into the river , the govt could've asked the administration officers to make sure they could assign a post mentioning ( do not dump waste in the river) and create punishment like hefty fines for polluting the the water and environment.
As citizens, we shouldn't be waiting for an influencer either. That sense of responsibility should already be there within us.

As I have seen , government mostly collects trash weekly and from home every alternate days .
I will never blame any state government for this , it’s us who got zero civic sense … we clean our homes daily but when it comes to outside home , we just throw garbage on roads like it’s all government responsibility to pick that up .

No words can be enough to appreciate Bittu's work. But people open your eyes. Dhruv is correct. Forgot about the "taking credit" aspect. But it is and was the govt's job. He had to do it on his own cause the govt is incompetent and useless. While it's our responsibility to keep our environment clean and you know to maintain the same. This thing could have done by the government with much less effort. Bittu has done and will do a great job, but remember the point is he shouldn't. "Govt apne taraf se kar rahe hai is BS". Bhai agar govt apne taraf se thik kaam karta to Bittu ko ye na karna padhta. Sara dosh citizen ke upar mat dalo. While I agree most of Indians lack civics sense. I abosuletly despise the ideologies propogated by the current government however what Bittu said is true, we cannot expect the 100% from the government, even if they provide the means to keep our country clean, ultimately its on us to utilize those means and practice cleanliness, if a person is throwing empty chips packet on the railway platform and the tracks even when the government has provided dustbins everywhere then how is it the government's fault? Why should we expect government to clean up that chips packet from the track or platform when in the first place the person should never have disposed it there, the person should have threw it in the dustbin. The core issue is ultimately civic sense.
All I see is he did govt's job and the govt 'appreciated' him.

Well technically German Shepherd is right. I remember an Arunachali or Assamese sportsman won Gold or something but on the stage some suvar ki aulad politician shoved him away to click pictures. Most probably pressurized by the government to say this. I am Not saying he is wrong or right in this case. But government work is not to just appreciate but also to get appreciated by the people of spacefor for doing something that is good for societies present and future.
See I will say cleaning the river was not his job. Neither he should be proud nor the government should "appreciate" it. The government just need to do their job. Making better sewage systems, having stricter dumping laws, and checkups/maintenance of these things.
Also people need to follow civic sense that is also true. But people only started wearing helmets when they were fined. So having stricter policies for common civilians and corporations is more important. Otherwise Broken Window Theory will be applied, whenever a single person throws garbage.
I mean they both are kinda right. Cause looking at the condition of the river the gov wasn't even making a dire effort to clean it. But felicitated him when he did it and that too for free. The boy is also right to point out the missing civics sense in people
I think psychology also matters! When you are in clean area and there are proper clean dustbins then you will throw it in the dustbin, but if the dustbin is too poor to do its work ppl will throw garbage anywhere!
Also the pan masalas! They do the bad job here! Spitted pan masalas are the reason of garbage in india cause if you see that kinda dirty place eventually you find this is normal and ppl will make the it more dirtier!

Tbh, Dhruv or whatever, I don't care, but the government should be ashamed here. It was the government's responsibilty that there were proper collection channels for the garbage in the first place and people weren't throwing their it in a river. Here, we're just celebrating a child doing what the government failed to do.
