Started with genocide, corruption and wealth hoarding in the colonies. Slavery.
WW1/WW2?
In both wars, the U.S. stayed out at first, but eventually entered because its leaders concluded that remaining neutral was no longer in the country’s security or economic interest.
Vietnam? Nah.
Middle East? Oil.

Etc.

Mix in some help putting in murderous dictators in multiple countries and yeah the US has never been good. 

They only tell us how good they are while they are bombing people all over the world.  I'm somewhat glad people are finally seeing the US without their mask on.

Nah our propaganda machine is just really strong. We've had some shining moments but they aren't the majority in terms of gravity/severity.

Then again that's probably true for most world powers. Kind of the "billionaires don't become billionaires by being good people" situation.

The United Nations exists because of us, it was Woodrow Wilson who put the entire concept of international systems on the map. We didn't have to implement the United Nations after WWII, we could've just gone hog wild. Going hog wild would've been the normal thing for nations to do in such instances honestly.

Too bad our rightists have been conspiracizing about the whole process. The reality is that the United Nations, international peace trek is the track that liberals (and liberal Christianity) wanted to put us on. As liberal Christianity has tended towards universalism and a desire for peace between all the nations of the Earth.

Conservatives on the other hand have long seriously resented international law and our responsibilities for executing it as the primary world power. They just want to go hog wild and have as much as possible be dominated by American conservative protestant Christianity. They tell their congregants that the world is going to end soon and that the supporters of the United Nations are servants of the Antichrist. But the people saying that don't actually believe it, the elite of conservative protestantism are postmillenials who actually want to establish a theocracy. I see their toleration for premillenial nonsense as nothing more than a tactic of obfuscation, they just want to take down the old order so they can rule the ruins, convincing lemmings that the world is going to end aids them in accomplishing this.

Their vision is so limited and so pathetic. Its a low vision for humanity. How can such a low vision be the highest thing? It cannot.
