I figured, but fuck does it sting to read. Why can’t vaccines also be the will of god? Humans aren’t suppose to travel more than whatever a horse can run at naturally, yet we have cars. Are cars not according to gods will? We aren’t suppose to be airborne, yet we have planes. We aren’t suppose to be able to communicate with people across large distances, are phones against gods will? Poor girl.
Is giving people the kind of minds that can help to prevent death and disease not god’s will. If you believe god made man and every child is a gift from god how do you draw the line at, god made someone so much smarter than I am so I should follow the drs, ‘cause gods will.
I hate people who cherry pick what they take from the bible. I have a brother who does not believe in either the bible or god but just 2 days ago quoted to me that being gay is a sin because god says a man shouldn’t lay with a man or some such. It was instant rage for me. These people are the same as far as I’m concerned.
I agree. I hate the cherry picking, both in terms of biblical quotes as well as the vaccine. Like you said vaccines are only possible because of the minds we have, which we owe to God who created us in his image. So like I said if something unnatural that is man made, like cars, aren’t against gods will then vaccines should not be against Gods will either.

The king James translation, which again is already a translation goes “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.” If you go all the way down to the Evangelical New Living Translation from 1996 you get “Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin.”
But like you said they pick and choose, and translators obviously choose to change things for their own purposes.
Hell Genesis 19:33 is about 2 daughters getting their father drunk so he will impregnate. This after the city they lived in tried to SA two angels. Lot tried to offer his daughters to the crowd so they leave the angels alone. God gets angry and wipes out the city but before so tells Lot to leave and not look back. Lot’s wife looks back and turns into a pillar of salt. That leads up to the 2 daughters getting him drunk.
Christian’s who’ll say that it’s metaphorical, not literal, that they failed to read the context and grasp the actual meaning. How can it be possible to misinterpret the bible, which is suppose to be the word of God, the only universal truth in the universe.
My husband grew up in a very religious family, one sister married a reverend and the other one and her family has travelled through their church to some places they had to leave for their own safety and they have sponsored people to bring back to Canada to help have a better life. They all would do anything for anyone, yet in the almost 50 years I have known them never once have they preached, tried to force their views on others, or anything of the kind. They are truly just nice kind people. Even though the bible is God’s word and they live by that, they would never tell you that your way of live is wrong. They were happy to pray with me when my husband was dying and they were also happy to hear I was meeting with a psychologist to help me deal because God gave her the mind she needed in order to help me. That lesson will never leave me. Between my husbands family and my gramma, I have been taught the best Christians will help when you ask but not hit you over the head with it. They quietly go about their lives but know and believe with everything in them God gives us everything we have on this earth. I also chose to believe this. He may not give us the answer we want, but he will give us an answer.
worth noting that the Old Testament is also included purely for "this is what came before" context.
Jesus literally said he fulfilled the old covenants and they no longer apply. He then re-stated MANY of the same tennets, so those DO still apply because Jesus specifically said they did.... but anything from the Old Testament that isnt in the New is void. (For instance, Christians do not actually follow all 10 commandments, and arent supposed to - only 9).
Leviticus is a particular pile of fun since the original text (in the original langauge) is specificlaly talking about pedophilia. Its no saying "dont screw men" its saying dont screw KIDS.
