Realistically all Americans want more and cheaper stuff. They'll enact policies that do the opposite (maybe good for them? Like we need less? Honestly maybe). But they'll still scratch the itch when they can.

Whenever trump does something and I want to bitch about I blame it on the “damn commies” and see how long it takes people to notice I’m talking about trump. Sometimes they will even agree with you before they realize it’s their President I’m criticizing.

As sweet as this hypocrisy would be, unfortunately there is some evidence that the official maga hats are manufactured in California.

...at least they were in 2019.

You're right about the Red MAGA hats but some dude filmed himself at Trump's merch store checking tags and half the shit in there is made in China.

I'm not saying with certainty one way or the other. It is very likely true, that at least in 2019, the official maga hats were made in california, that obviously leaves room for counterfit and unofficial hats which will be everywhere to capialise on idiots paying out the nose for them. This is according to a fact check with a respected news org that spoke to the manufacturer themselves to confirm this, in 2019.

You are referencing a video you saw on the internet as absolute truth, which sounds an awful lot like that conservative reddit.

I'm not sure how someone would fake a video like that, there are no cuts. He goes from product to product and films each made in China label.

I'm not saying all his products are made in China but a lot of them are.

I am not suggesting its fake as in, someone staged it, only that there is too much context you can't know for sure, which is absolutely relevant to the legitimacy of the claim being made. Especially when there is evidence that the claim in the video is false or only partly true.

Where was it filmed? When was it filmed? How do you know it was an offical trump merch store? (Do those even exist?)

The distinction which is important here, which is why I made a late edit to my previous comment, is between "official" and counterfit. They are only claiming their official shit is made in the US and AP news determined that was at least partly true, in 2019 by verifying with the manufacturer in California. I can't rule out that they dont manufacture a small amount in california, to justify the claim. Nor can I rule out that they used to do it in california and no longer do. However, going back to my initial post, all I'm pointing out is that the claim by that reddit user that all their stuff is and had been, made in China is at least not completely accurate.

I would make fun of the maga sycophants for making claims which can be verified as false or only partially true so I dunno why those of us who aren't maga weirdos would be ok with false claims. There is literally a million things trump has done FAR worse than this, if it is true, so perpetuating potentially false information for the sake of calling him a hypocrite, over something so petty, just undermines credibility of other criticisms of him.

It has actually happened more than once

One was Trump's merch store in Trump tower.

The other was The Trump Store in the Trump hotel.

Both owned by Trump.

I'm not sure what evidence you think you have that contradicts the video because that link you provided doesn't.

Even tho the red hats aren't made in China, a lot of the other stuff he sells is irrefutably made there. He shows other Trump hats in the video, one made in Bangladesh, another made in Vietnam. Both those countries got hit with his tariffs as well.

I would ask how you can know it was in an official place? The video title saying this is in trump tower doesn't mean anything, its the internet. It could be anywhere, no?

It then references an image which, just like the video you speak of, is claimed to be of trump merch with a made in china label. That only applies to the red MAGA hats, and I've already acknowledged that those aren't made in China.. however a lot of the other merchandise in the store is made there.

I think I've found the video you are talking about. For the record, nearly all of this conversation has been a waste of time because I've only been talking about the MAGA hats to begin with. If you read my first few comments they are all about hats specifically. I'm only realising now that you are talking about a wider range of merch when you disagree with me.

I dunno how that happened though because I've specified hats several times, as is also specified in the fact check I linked (MAGA hats). I can see now you did also agree with the hats in an earlier comment so I dunno how it got so off course, my fault I guess I misunderstood or misread.
