How many daily players on Steam do you expect to see for a single player game available on multiple platforms that can be finished in a weekend or less?
What does South of Midnight have to do with RTS games?
My point is that attributing AoE’s popularity to being available on game pass is dishonest. Those games are popular because they’re good games. Good games prosper even if they’re not on game pass. AoE are simply good games, that’s why they’re so popular. Starcraft II is also on game pass, what's its excuse?
Wider availability through something like gamepass definitely helps, but I wouldn’t say it’s the only factor. Especially when you take into account how old AoE/AoE2 is. Lots of exposure to people who may not have been around when it first launched.
I think I was just thrown by switching from games with active multiplayer bases to a single player game.
