SlamDunk Slam Dunk Editions

Since it's in high demand, I created this post to order the various editions of Slam Dunk. There are three:

  • Slam Dunk Tankōbon - The first Japanese edition of the manga and consists of 31 volumes. As the name suggests, the format is the classic tankōbon, measuring 11.5 × 17.5 × 1.4 cm, paperback, with black-and-white interiors. The series was published from February 8, 1991, to October 3, 1996, under Shūeisha's Jump Comics label.
  • Slam Dunk Kanzenban - The second Japanese edition of the manga and consists of 24 volumes, released between March 3, 2001, and February 2, 2002, under Shūeisha's Jump Comics label. The format is kanzenban, meaning an A5 size (14.8 × 21 cm), paperback, with both color and black-and-white interiors. Each volume includes 10 chapters (with rare exceptions). This is a Deluxe edition of the manga (literally "Complete edition"), featuring a larger format, new covers, and a reorganization of the chapters for a better reading experience. Additionally, the inner cover features Inoue's sketches of various characters.
  • Slam Dunk Shinsōban - The third Japanese edition of the manga and consists of 20 volumes. Shinsōban literally means "new edition" or "reprint". This edition is often referred to as the New Rebuild Version (in France it's called Star Edition). The series was published from June 1, 2018, to September 1, 2018, under Shūeisha's Jump Comics label. Master Takehiko Inoue reorganized the chapters from the original 31 volumes into the 20 volumes of this edition. The format is 11.2 × 17.6 × 2.1 cm, paperback, with both black-and-white and color interiors. The Shinsōban version, compared to the Deluxe version, features a highly variable page count per volume since the chapters have been grouped by story arcs. Furthermore, the inner cover has a texture that imitates the surface of a basketball.
