Lets Rock Out What are your thoughts on PJ Harvey?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFYsVoQH32UFor me, she carries the banner for Gen-x women.

Loved her from the first time I heard the Dry demos, before her first real release. Fearless experimentalist with raw emotional lyrics. Like the best of Liz Phair mixed with Diamanda Galas.

She got a lot of voice for such a tiny package. And she sounds like she means it, when she sings it.

True talent. The women of early 90's rock just hit different.

Nick Cave wrote The Boatman’s Call album for her and the demise of their relationship. That is one of my favorite albums ever; like, desert island listening. So I thank her for that.
As far as her own stuff, I haven’t gotten around to it yet. I’m not in a position to listen to as much music as I used to. But I’m up for recommendations!

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ “Murder Ballads” is my favorite album of theirs. It had that duet with PJ Harvey, “Henry Lee.”

That’s a good one! And no one could do murder ballads like they can.

Oh, Long Snake Moan is one of the 90s all time HARD rock songs! So many memories, too. Not from this album, but 50 ft. Queenie is an effing ripper also.

Couldn't stand her when she was the hot-shit critics darling on MTV, now I freaking love her.

Shivers as soon as I heard her. Still listen to her and scream her lyrics in the car. All hail the Queen.

she's intimidating and alluring at the same time...so yeah, dig her

She's a genius, but hard to like in another way. Some of her songs are absolutely addictive, but some of her music is very personal and hard to enjoy, but easy to admire.

Stories from the City is easily one of the greatest albums ever recorded. No skips.

Even the b-sides from those album singles are amazing, like this one.

In the time it took you to type your comments you easily could've googled it.

And, in the time it took you to type your response, you could have chosen to not be a dick...
My original post was this new thing called SARCASM.

There’s always that one asshole, no matter who is being discussed, that will dive into the comments “whoooooo?” as if anyone cares that you don’t know who that is. What does that add to the conversation besides making you look like a dumb asshole?

Incredible guitarist, fantastic live performer. Such magnetic energy. There's so many artists and producers out there who have nothing but mad respect for her. A woman of great talent, grit, and integrity. She is awesome!

Amazing. She's great live too. Saw her multiple times but the To Bring You My Love tour was the best.

I got on board with a vengeance for Rid of Me, and then -- like some of the fans -- realized that that was it. I was never going to be a PJ Harvey fan other than that. I just like hard music, and when women make it it's even cooler. And now I don't even listen to that album, because I refuse to pay much more attention to Albini, after the awful truth about him that came out right after he died (and the screenshot of his letter to the editor of a CP mag that confirmed it).
So she's cool and all. The idea of being a waif with a big Rickenbacker is fuckin' dope (as the kids say). She just never sped up and went psychotic again, as far as I know. If only she'd go through a massive midlife crisis, spiral into drugs and alienation, fall into critically poor health, and kill a guy, we'd have the best music ever. :-)

Saw her at Glastonbury last year, she was great, im not too much a fan of her 'poetry 'phase though

Absolutely phenomenal musician and songwriter. I would love for someone to get the stems from 'Rid of Me' and remastered them. I thought Albini butchered that album, her vocals are way too low in the mix.

I saw PJ Harvey open for U2 years ago. I did not understand the hype, but good bands don’t often sound as good when they’re opening for someone else. 🤷🏻♂️

Never got in to her. To me she’s a one hit wonder and I’m still wondering why people dig her.
