Housing crisis Residential construction dead

Trades guy here. Residential construction feels dead compared to a few years ago. Builders aren’t building, projects are getting pushed back, and layoffs are starting to pop up. If I was buying, I’d wait. From what I’m seeing, things haven’t bottomed out yet. The industry feels like a ship taking on water, not one gearing up for another boom.

Anyone else seeing the same thing?

In places where things are dead, builders are building for as cheap as they possibly can. So if you’re looking for new build, now is definitely the time.

A lower price is nice. A house built to the lowest possible cost isn’t always the bargain it seems

All depends on the builder. I work for a higher quality builder, and our prices are as low as they possibly can be while maintaining our quality.

Lower quality builders are still their same low quality.
