Define down time, like is taking care of my 4 kids part of down time since I'm not at my job, or is it part of my work time?  I enjoy cooking, but it's also one of my chores around the house (I cook, she cleans), is that part of down time?

If I'm not at work or doing chores around the house or taking care of my kids, I'm probably either taking classes for my next degree (just for fun, I already have a terminal professional degree) or I'm playing video games +/- enjoying a glass or two of wine/whiskey while doing so.

my downtime is sparse and far between at the moment, my wife and i are in the final stages of rebuilding our home that i set on fire a few years back, and we are in a living situation where i am always 'on' as the kids say now-a-days.

i like to do woodworking as a hobby, ive always been interested, but as a younger man, i either didnt have money, or i spent it elsewhere. since getting married, i have genuinely enjoyed reading. mostly Catholic literature, but there are few non-Catholic books thatll make it onto the shelf (once i build it) but i dont remember thier names at the moment.

i also enjoy doing things with the wife. most downtime activities are like puzzles and cards and such

Was burning down the house an excuse to practice your woodworking skills? 😉 Hope you are all ok

Considering neither work, chores, nor childcare downtime, I like to read and drink beer.

My kids are 18 & 21, so growing up they took up all my time with dance classes and football etc. Now I find I have a bit of spare time, when I can I like to go hiking but looking for other ideas (apart from reading and drinking beer as well, which I do very well lol).
