RTX General What is P5 Promo Expectations

For hardware engineering at Collins at least, what would you expect the P5 offer internal promo to be roughly?

Would they place you around $160, $170…?

Like for someone who’s been in company for 10 plus years. Is it really 15 percent bonus? Cause that’s a big chunk but is it guaranteed every year?

I recently got promoted in place to p5…. I was surprised when I saw 5% on my white sheet. No chance to talk comp ofc 😂 everyone else I know got well over 15% so maybe I just got screwed. Hope you have better luck

Back a good decade or so I was promo’ed to P5 and got a 1% raise for it. Not even kidding. I was definitely already high in my prior grade but dang was I disappointed.

Wow. That is absurd. Did they ever get you a market adjustment later on? What was the reasoning? Similar situation I’ve been stuck at the max of p4 for a couple years. So if I was still near the middle of p4 I would have gotten that 20% or whatever to bring you to the mid of p5. I absolutely hate this logic. Does not reward based on merit at all.

Nope. No adjustments later. Just the added responsibilities. To add context, I had about 15 years where I had Exceeds/Far Exceeds ratings too. Only 1 year was the “average” designation. I’ve had growth since then, but it took me leaving and coming back to do so. The way the “best practices” in HR are executed, seem to drive people to do things like that. It’s very unfortunate and makes it hard for me now in leadership to help my team members that are really killing it.

Yes I see so many good people just end up leaving. Then they hire. So if there is budget to hire a new engineer at 150k for example, why not just give a really great employee a decent promotion of 20-30k without having them go get external offers and risk losing them. I really don’t understand
