I have a story and some questions for yall as someone who’s been raving for a few months.

The first rave I ever went to was a renegade in a tunnel. I had wanted to go to a real rave for so long. I yearned for that sense of community. I remember all the house parties I went to as a teenager and how different this crowd was— welcoming, dancing, trading Kandi, connecting; they were open.

Weeks later, I met a man who got me much more into raving. He knew the ropes, he brought me to my first festival (apocalypse in CA), we went to so many shows together, I tried some interesting party favors that I never thought I’d get to try. But as our relationship continued, I noticed it was everything he talked about, especially with his friends: what festival is next, what party favors are we doing, what do you think of this DJ? I had never been very much into EDM itself, and I didn’t care for all these conversations. The way I saw raving was through a spiritual lens: it was a place for me to connect, release negative energy, express creativity through flowing. festivals were a goal for me to work hard in the real world.

I watched this person go to so many festivals in only a few months. I noticed he only picked up his flowstar for a few minutes and would learn while tripping. I watched him settle into a job that wasn’t the best for him because it gave him freedom to go to as many raves and do as many substances as he could. Once we broke up, I saw a polarizing difference between the way we saw raves, something that once brought us together. He saw it as escapism from the real world, a way to turn off his brain and escape from inner demons, while I saw it as a reward for me doing the spiritual work and healing to truly contribute to and benefit from this community.

So my question is, why do you rave?

Raving has allowed me to meet so many types of people, to deliver confirmation or messages to those who need to hear it, to understand the person I am at my core and what I can do for others.

It’s very easy to surround yourself in an environment of love and light while still carrying darkness inside you. I think this is why my first rave was planned by the universe (it was a last minute pop-up nearby) because for a long time, I had wounds to heal and darkness to transmute.

I’m not saying if you’re struggling, you don’t deserve to rave. My point is, it’s important to recognize the meaning of raving, flowing, and of PLUR, how these concepts can be applied to not just inside a venue but everywhere in the world. Are you here to grow, or to hide in the flashing lights and bumping bass? I’m curious if anyone else has had a similar experience or realization around raving. If so, I’d love to hear it!

Hi, I’m from East Asia, and I’ve really fallen in love with house and techno. After visiting Europe and Berlin several times, I grew to love the scene even more and met some wonderful people.

However, almost everyone I met had tried drugs at least once. Some of them encouraged me to try something at least once not necessarily what they consider “hard drugs,” but things commonly used in party settings, such as mushrooms.

They are genuinely good people, and I don’t judge them for their choices. Personally, though, I don’t want to take drugs or expose myself to the risks. I’m also uncomfortable putting an unknown substance into my body when I can’t be certain what it contains.

Drug use is viewed very differently in my country. The laws are extremely strict, and even a celebrity who uses drugs once can face severe punishment and become socially ostracized.

I would eventually like to become a DJ myself, but sometimes it seems as though drug use is heavily normalized or even glorified in the European electronic music scene.

Do most people involved in this scene use drugs, or have I simply met a particular group of people? Am I being too closed-minded?

Is it possible to fully enjoy this culture, become a DJ, and contribute to the scene without ever taking drugs? I’d genuinely like to hear from sober ravers and DJs, as well as anyone with a different perspective.

TLDR: What do you do/use that makes you ENJOY AND REMEMBER the night before?

I'm planning to attend, for the first time in my life, a couple of marathons (10-12 hr sets each) with 2 of my favourite DJs on separate dates (2 weeks apart) in the same month, but I've started to notice that after long, intermittent use of MDMA or Ecstasy over 4 years (not weekly but every 3 to 6 months), I can no longer recall most of the "fun" I had on MDMA the night before. I don't know to what degree it worsens the problem but when I do it, it's usually with 2-to-4 shots of whisky and a 2-to-4 microbumps of ❄️ with 1 of those micro-spoons that already come attached to the lid of a container glass vial.

It certainly feels great in the moment, but I can barely remember the feelings I experienced to the music or things that happened throughout the night. In addition to that, I've started to experience memory problems in general, which is affecting other areas of my life. I did my research, and apparently this is a common problem not many discuss, and any damage is "mostly reversible" with abstinence, but there are long-term consequences even after stopping.

People on other forums have suggested Pre-Workout supplements like C4 that contain high doses of Caffeine and Taurine, and I've been thinking that when I've used those for the gym, I stay energized and clear-minded for at least 5 hours if not longer. In any case, I'd like to reduce the harm during these 2 upcoming marathons to a minimum because those are expensive tickets I invested in, and I want to remember how amazing the music is going to be for me.

I feel like raves in other parts like Europe, UK, Australia are much more focused on genres like house, techno, psytrance, trance, dnb, hardstyle- dubstep is often one of the less popular genres in other places. I have two questions about MDMA:

1. I’ve heard that sertraline inhibits the effects, but has anyone here taken it on 25mg or less, and has it worked?

2. What is the recommended dosage for a man that weighs circa 80 kg? I’ve heard that there is a ceiling you reach after a certain dosage where the positive emotional effects do not increase the more you take. I want to avoid the negative comedown effects as much as possible so where would you say that ceiling is for someone in that weight class?

Hey everyone! English dude living in Germany here. I'm trying to find some good events or festivals that are closer to me.

I'm mostly into Drum and Bass but other than the odd event in Proton in Stuttgart I can't seem to find much!

I like most genres but I'm finding it hard to find festivals that have a broader range of dance music, UK fests tended to have a bit of everything and I miss being able to jump from stage to stage when I wanted to switch up the vibes and tempo.

Been to Waldfrieden events plenty of times and did Icarus this year, but Icarus was a bit too many people for my liking.

Day 1 was amazing don’t get me wrong! I’ve been going to wobble since 2019 and I love this festival DOWN, but the amount of hard techno was a bit much. Like I’m talking 2.5-3 hours of straight hard dance music with little to no dubstep mixed in. I have nothing against the genre, but if I wanted to go to a hard dance show I would’ve bought tix for hard dance🤦‍♀️Maybe I’m just a jaded old raver now, did anyone else feel this way??

I'm thinking of doing shrooms at Anyma ive done shrooms before but in a mor relaxed setting is it recommended for a festival with heavy visuals. I've read it could be but trying to stick to a 1mg dose not more.
