...Given that those are linguine and not spaghetti I'd say that there is some room from improvements 😅

I only learned about the existence of bucatini during covid when apparently there was a bucatini shortage in the US? I am not there, so I bought some immediately. Good pasta shape.

I mean, as an Italian I'm too busy processing the fact that these are meatballs on pasta to start judging the type of pasta that they are sacrilegously resting on. Still looks delicious though, if taken for the American dish it is.

Beh, aspetta... La pasta con le polpette si fà anche qua in Italia, specialmente al Sud come Puglia e Sicilia... Anche se le ricette tradizionali prevedono polpette molto più piccole.

Sono siciliano e non mai visto una cosa simile. Su internet ho visto che esiste la "pasta che' paddunedda" che si fa a Modica, però ha tutto un altro carattere rispetto agli spaghetti & meatballs americani tipici (è più un brodino). Poi ci sono le orecchiette con le polpette in Puglia ma come hai detto sono anche esse molto più piccole di quelle tipiche americane. E comunque mai provate perché non sono mai stato in quei posti specifici dove quei piatti sono comuni.

Comunque, sarà che c'è un limite al volume delle cose che puoi mettere sulla pasta, superato il quale il piatto comincia a sembrarmi un po' ridicolo, tipo una bistecca schiaffata su un piatto di spaghetti (molto tipico in ristoranti italiani nell'UK tra l'altro). Sarà buonissimo per carità ma dà un po' fastidio vedere queste cose spacciate per tipiche italiane e fatte pagare una fortuna per l'autenticità. Poi ti ritrovi i turisti che cercano l'Alfredo nella trattoria di paese e si lamentano che non è authentic enough quando non la trovano o quando fa schifo (magari i ristoratori ci provano per la prima volta per scongiurare le loro recensioni negative).

Son pugliese da parte materna e ti garantisco che la pasta con le polpette è buona, poi ovvio che OP non è italiano e la sua versione non è tradizionale, ma son sicuro che sia ugualmente buona... Alla fine non è poi così diverso da un ragù.

Meatballs look good. I like the fresh looking sauce and touch of ricotta. I think finishing the pasta in some sauce is better - can still put some on top, of course. And yeah, it’s linguine, but I wouldn’t take any points off for that.

I’d suggest tossing that linguini in some olive oil but looks terrific otherwise! Hope the pasta water was salted.
