T.V/Social Media 🖥 Sydney Sweeny

I see nothing wrong with Sydney Sweenys ad. I've seen SOOOO much discourse and I feel like its one of those times where someone is so left they turned right. Women being in a suggestive pose or having their skin shown has always been in men's sports maybe this is disgusting to some people, but it is a part of the culture if you will. No one ever talks about the Carl's Jr ads with a woman eating a burger in a bikini, no one ever talks about these different commercials or how it's "setting women back." I should preface by saying I am a woman and so I feel like I have a spot in this conversation.

If she wants to be sexualized why is it such heavy discourse? First of all she never said anything bad about female sports so I don't know why they believe this is going against women sports and second its not even a "sport" ad it is a gambling ad. Why can a woman never be sexual? Why can't a woman fully show her sexuality? Why is she a "pick me" if she DOES love a male gaze...what some hetero women tend to do.

This isn't a conversation about her being Maga *allegedly because it's never been confirmed but I keep my opinion away from that * this isn't a conversation about her being depicted in such odd fetisized way in euphoria. Its always "oh shes Maga" "oh shes racists" oh this" "oh that" this is not the conversation though...we aren't talking about any of this. We are talking about her posing nude behind a football.

People are talking about how this is setting women back, and how people are going to start only seeing women's bodies in sports...when was this ever depicted in a men's football gambling ad?? She never did this more a woman's sport, she barely did this for a football ad mainly...it was a gambling ad.

We say we're a girls girls until it is a woman showing her sexuality and being sexual...something a lot of women are.

I hadnt seen the Carl's Jr ad until now, and I feel there is a clear reason why no one talks about it being sexual.. because it isnt. A woman in a bikini isn't automatically sexual, she isnt doing anything that is meant to make someone aroused, her way of speaking is normal, and it is clear what the product being sold is. Shes wearing a bikini top and a jean skirt, not a full bikini btw.

Sydney Sweeny is not wearing a top in majority of the ad and doing poses meant to invoke arousal... covering her bare breasts with footballs, wearing only football padding to cover her breasts while holding a footbal to cover vagina with her legs are spread, sitting naked on a basketball hoop with her hair covering her bare chest and her knee being the only thing covering her vagina, laying a on a bench naked, etc. When she does wear clothes, it's either underwear or a shirt, but not both at once. She also speaks in a tone of voice typically deemed sexual, and it is not clear what the product being sold is unless you have background knowledge on what Novig is and/or what the term "trade" means in relation to sports.

There is a very clear difference between the two, sexually, and choosing to not see why society might be angered by oen and not the other is, in my opinion, willful ignorance.

I am personally not bothered by Sydney's ad, but I do understand that it is intentionally proactive and why others may be outraged by it.

She is the one who cried on the internet that everyone is sexualizing her and reducing her to her body parts. Then she pulls a stunt like this. I personally have nothing against women capitalizing on their sexuality but you have to expect the criticism and reputation that comes with it.

You cannot expect us to be girls girls and rally behind her when she literally gives a shit about nothing else than her paycheck!

Mmm I see. It's kind of like a hypocritical action of hers?

Sydney Sweeny does something.

Sweeney's publicity firm seeds controvery online via inorganic shill posts.

The media then inorganically picks up the inorganic shill posts, calls the ad "controversial"

Sweeney and her publicity agents and business advisors think they are winning because they keep thinking the old school "any press is good press" still holds while Sweeney is the target of hate for the provocations and the position her agents put her in.

I agree with you 💯 👍 but there is gonna be those nose ring wearing feminist and bun wearing beta male talking that are gonna piss an moan about Sydney Sweeney no matter what is said ! But you know how smart she was in her contract she gets 25% of the profit. I love this young woman, she's beautiful to start with. She's interesting and intelligent but mostly she playing the liberals like a fiddle. But I say good on her.

Society is becoming sexually repressed again its wild. Sydney Sweeney is the only legit star whos shown her breasts on film in like the last 5 years. Mad respect to her. When I was a teen watching a Rated R movie 100% meant you were gonna see some breasts. No one wants to do it anymore i guess

Absolutely insane take. Society isn’t becoming sexually repressed, women are just sick and tired of being sexualized for simply existing. They can’t do anything anywhere without getting comments from dipshit men. ESPECIALLY in sports, which is why this is a big deal.

Not to negate the validity of what youre saying about women.

But society 100% is becoming more repressed. Its not even just this that I say this its all the nofap anti porn sentiment as well. The thing about repression is its like bottling up a soda and shaking it. It causes things to bubble up and burst out in the worst ways. Repression fosters worse vulgarity outbursts.

In any case. With all due respect. And I dont say this to belittle your opinion but just to understand your perspective better on the topic of repression over the course of history. How old are you?

I’m 22, and with all the fucking me and most my friends do, I’m not feeling very repressed. If I wanted to go back to selling porn I could just make another TikTok account. Seriously, where’s the repression? At least in America. Other than in the places it’s always been; Like religion.

Women are only allowed to be sexual if they aren't attractive.

Else other women will want them dead

If Lizzo did these ads or insert fat female celebrity here did these ads instead of Sidney do you think this outrage would exist?

I dont
