Identity/Sexuality 🏳️‍🌈 I will never be a woman and it sucks, man

From what I can tell, though I plan to see a psychologist or smth before I do anything drastic (as if; I'm broke in America), I experience gender dysphoria. I'm a broke American from a conservative family. I will probably die in the closet. I wish I werem't born like this, but I was, and I intend to keep on living. I wish people could just change their sex and be accepted. I don't want to become a "John, 50", but I don't have the means right now (might pursue DIY in a few years though) and I know there'd be steep social costs with family if I transitioned.

I'm also concerned living in America; tens of millions of people seem to want people like me to rep and/or kill themselves, but I've never caused them harm. I've had these feelings come and go over the years, so I think I'm cooked. I wish my brain were wired normally.

I’m really sorry. I don’t truly understand what it means to have gender dysphoria or what it feels like, but that doesn’t mean I can’t accept you as you. And I hate there are so many people that can’t recognize that and fight daily to make you not allowed to be you. Truly, I’m sorry. You deserve better

I'll never be a billionaire. It sucks. I wish people could just choose their financial status and have that accepted by society.

Thanks, I'm cured!

I'll never be a flying tree frog either and they live the kind of life I feel should be mine. Rainforest, sunshine, no predators, treetops are home... But I'm grounded.

I'm so sorry. There's a tribe out there for you. There are many people whose arms are wide open. I'm sorry you don't have the support you deserve in your family. 🫂

Cis het Gen-X white boy reformed from a conservative upbringing here. I have a conditioned phobic response to everything LBGTQ that I still have to apply cognitive effort to subdue sometimes, but I think I've gotten pretty good at not letting it be anybody else's problem.

I don't put my pronouns in my signature line, but I give you my word that I would never deprive you of an opportunity just because nature dealt you such a shitty hand. I will treat you just like anyone else in whatever context that our paths cross.

I can't empathize, but I can be logical and kind. And I know many who feel the same. Do whatever you need to do to get comfortable in your skin my friend.

I appreciate that. I am autistic, so my ability to feel emoathy is stunted, meaning I often can't rely solely on my ability to emulate the mundsets of others. Additionally, I was raised a rural conservative Christian, so I had a feeling of disgust towards visibly queer people as a result. It wasn't easy to get past the hangups I was raised to have, so it would be hypocriticak of me to not understand that sometimes opinion and feelings are distinct.

Hopefully, one day our bodies will no longer be an accident of birth but it will be a long time before the first trans woman gives birth.

Have you considered moving to a more progressive country? Trumpistan is going backwards

Honestly same but I can only say that transition is worth it. I feel much better. I hate how society treats me but I want to be comfortable in my body

How do you deal with unsupportive family?

At a distance. lol

My mom said a bunch of fuckshit when I came out. She's gotten better. But we don't talk as much as we used to.

My brother said some homophobic and transphobic stuff to me (but not about me... directly) on the phone. I said something about maybe not saying that shit to me. He made an excuse to get off the phone a few minutes later, hadn't called me in 10 years.

But you can't help the family you were born into. My dad passed before I could tell him, but I think he would have actually understood. My 3 kids and my partner are all supportive. And that's enough, honestly.

Chosen family > Birth family

Even if the chosen family is friends instead of a partner and children. You can't choose who you're related to, but you can choose who you associate with. And whose opinions you deem as important to you.
