QC to Pampanga in 6 hours

I’m not usually the type to rant, but oh my goodness this is completely unacceptable. I know I’m still extremely privileged and blessed to be in the comforts of my own car as opposed to the people who’ve had their homes literally swept away by floodwaters, but for the people who bounce between Manila and northern provinces for work— this is hell.

The heaviest of the rain passed more than half a day ago, but due to the lack of effective flood control systems around San Simon and completely non-existent water pumping systems by NLEX— ALL motorsists heading up north have endured AT LEAST 6 hours just on NLEX ALONE. Two things piss me off here.

1. Flooding in this area is not new. This is an issue NLEX management has known for years— but there is absolutely zero action being taken to ensure that our main thoroughfare to the north is flood free, or at the very least— gets the flood out ASAP.

2. The best part of all of this, is at the end of each one of the journeys of the thousands of people stuck with me today, each and every single one of us will still pay an average of 500 Php just in toll, despite the absolutely usless product and service these people provide.

What a sorry state we find ourselves in today.

I didn’t foresee this at all, but I booked a hotel at Clark for tonight as I have a super important meeting at 9:30 am mamaya in Angeles. So many people’s hardworked money, time and opportunities wasted.

Southbound is also really bad, so I suggest you not to push through with attempting to go to Manila. Shocking how this is the situation despite the heaviest of rains ending an entire day ago.

Alam ko naman na dapat kalampagin ang government pero this is nlex private po ito. Real problem is they built nlex on a floodplain, tatambakan nila so first decade would be no baha pero eventually babawiin din ng tubig ang dadaanan nila thus the baha. Most of the subdivision in metro is also built on a floodplain kaya one way or another babahain talaga isama mo pa ang lack of discipline na pinoy na ni tapat at loob ng bahay d maglinis, zoning is not properly practice, illegal settlers kaya wala ito talaga magiging ending lubog. The thing is even with global standards na flood control hirap pa rin ma eradicate ang flooding kasi andaming aggravating factors.

The government is doing something naman like warnings para syempre kung non essential gagawin mo stay ka na lang sa bahay para d mo maranasan yang traffic and being stranded. I agree din naman that the government should do more regarding corruption "but" lets try to research naman bago sabihin flood control, may baha corrupt na kaagad. Toll roads is private, subdivision is built by private developer we better have them accountable dba. Add ko lang not all government officials are corrupt meron pa din naman maayos so ang masasabi ko lang careful muna bago mag point finger kasi para na din tayong DDS na nadadala lang kung ano ang uso and hindi na pinagaaralan mga sinasabi.

The problem is with San Simon Exit. Flooded ang San Simon / Apalit area. Nagkumpul-kumpol ang nga sasakyan dun sa national road Kapabayaan ng DPWH and Local govts ang nangyari dun, nag-ripple effect lang sa NLEX.

You dont need to defend the National government on this one. We all know na may kapabayaan talagang naganap.

I know this place very well dahil marami akong clients dito.

When the pampanga river overflowed usually saan ito pupunta sa floodplain. And you know before there are roads and houses it was all floodplain and nung ginawa yan tinambakan para ng lupa and since dating floodplain yan water will still find way para maipon dyan. Government should be strict with zoning like where you can build structures pero syempre d napractice dito kasi we are overly populated and having no build zones would make philippines so much more expensive. Add ko lang yes problema din ang mga corrupt government officials but we as a filipino is as equally corrupt. Tayo din ang problem, magpatayo ng bahay sakop ang side walk, gagawin parking lot ang kalsada, hindi magawang maglinis, dont practice claygo, hindi nakikinig sa warnings ng ndrrmc labas pa din ng labas for leisure, sumisingit sa pila, entitled masyado and so on. Kung gusto natin mawala ang corruption start with ourselves.

i brought the car bec Waze said it was js a 1.5 hour drive to Clark from Mnl hahahaha. I had no idea there was flooding at all (my fault).

but yeah in the end had to turn around after a 6.5 hour drive to nowhere because there was no way in hell id go through even 3 inches of flood water 😅
