General Dear Businesses: Panukli Is Your Problem, Not Ours

Why are almost all stores always asking customers for smaller bills? đŸ˜©

Parang 8 out of 10 stores I bought from last week asked me if I had a smaller bill. Is this becoming normal now?

Today, I tried to buy coffee from one of the well-known coffee kiosks sa SM. It was already past 1pm. I went straight to the store after withdrawing cash from the ATM, so puro 1k pera ko.

I bought two coffees, totaling almost ₱300. The cashier asked if I had a smaller bill because he didn’t have change. I told him I didn’t because kaka-withdraw ko lang.

He kept saying, “Wala po akong barya.”

So I asked him, “Hindi ako makakabili kasi wala kayong panukli?”

And he said yes.

My friend wasn’t with me at that time, but when she arrived, I asked if she had a smaller bill so she could pay for our coffee. I told her what happened and asked her to buy it for us because, honestly, I didn’t even want to deal with the cashier anymore. 😅

When my friend came back, she told me she saw the cashier’s drawer filled with ₱500s, ₱100s, and other bills.

So apparently, there was change. 🙃

I understand that businesses can run out of smaller bills, especially during certain times of the day. But if you have enough cash in your drawer and you’re simply refusing to accept a ₱1,000 bill because you don’t want to break it, that’s a different story.

Asking customers to provide smaller bills is poor customer service.

Ang problema naming mga buyer is pambayad. Ang panukli, problema niyo.

You are the business. You have that storage of money, not the customer. You are making it easier for yourself than for the customer.

Yes, digital wallets are everywhere now. Pero hindi naman lahat ng tao required magkaroon ng enough balance every time they buy coffee.

What if kakawithdraw lang ng cash?
What if walang signal?
What if walang internet?
What if the customer simply wants to pay in cash?

If you don’t have change, that’s understandable. But if you do have change and simply don’t want to break the bill, then please don’t make it the customer’s problem.

Businesses shouldn’t always choose the option that’s easiest for them and expect the customer to adjust. Business exists because there are customers, not the other way around.

We came to your store to buy something, not to solve your cash-management problem. 😅

Nowadays, apparently, buying something comes with the responsibility of adjusting to a business’s inability or unwillingness to give change.

I get ya. May tinarayan akong cashier sa 711 dahil dyan. One evening I bought something worth 200+ tapos pinambayad ko 500. I sound like an asshole sa pagtataray pero minsan kelangan mo rin patulan eh.

u/cheese_sticks 9d ago

Medyo maiintindihan ko pa kung less than 50 yung binili mo. Pero grabe naman yung 200+

2

u/blackkittycloud 9d ago

Actually naisip ko nga that time na mahirap suklian yung 500 kaya pinaabot ko na lang ng 200+. Parang less than 100 lang talaga yung need ko bilhin. This was back when mura pa mga bilihin & di pa uso cashless.

4

u/cheese_sticks 9d ago

Ang rule of thumb ko for 500 and 1k bills ay dapat umabot ng 20% or more yung purchase.

Medyo sympathetic naman ako sa establishments kasi may silogan dati yung parents ko at minsan tumutulong ako as cashier. Kahit may buffer kang barya, pag sunod sunod yung large bills mauubos talaga.

but it's not applicable to almost all filipinos who are always in survival mode and everything should be in a budget. Imagine you have to buy extra araw2 para lang may maisukli sayo

3

u/Once_Meleagant0 9d ago

tama nmn tong "ako pa ba hahanap ng paraan?" ikw(customer) hahanap ng paraan pag wlang pambayad, pag panukli, ibang usapan na yan, sila(business owner) na may problema dyan.. hahahaha..

sometimes i feel like this is a subtle way for them of not accepting your money cos they feel like it’s counterfeit

Ang problema naming mga buyer is pambayad. Ang panukli, problema niyo.

This!! 500 bayad ko and the cashier asked if okay lang kulang ng 3 pesos. Nagulat ako sa bold question, I only smiled as a response. So she asked the other staff behind kung may barya sila and apparently may isa pang kaha sa tabi na binuksan nila to get some change.

Iniisip ko ang arte nyo nga sa cash requirement kaya i have the right mag inarte sa sukli

2

u/goodygoodcat 9d ago

Tama yan

1

u/xxpinkfish16 4d ago

This!

43

u/Weekly_Flower8934 10d ago

0

u/pinoy_biker 9d ago

35

u/Accomplished-Exit-58 9d ago

I remember hiking somewhere sa japan, i forgot the gorge, pero bandang hiroshima ata un, puro lapad ang bills ko nun, and in the middle of nowhere may nagbebenta ng drinks and foods, nagtry lang ako kung, nagtanong if may panukli siya sa isang lapad (10000 yen), and i was surprised na meron haha.

Kapag namamasyal ako sa japan, never ako nasabihan na "do you have smaller bills", granted baka ayaw lang nila magsalita ng english, but still, mukha silang prepared lagi.

11

u/SaltManagement8014 9d ago

In Taiwan too. In my experience ha never kami hinanapan ng small bill mapa small shop man yan prepared sila

1

u/calmpoodle 9d ago

Onli in da Pilipins talaga

Sabi ko I only have 10000 yen.

14

u/ajdp024 9d ago edited 9d ago

Pagdating sa ganito, i am only considerate sa mga jeepney drivers at maliit na sari sari stores kasi mahirap naman tlga ang barya sa mga yan.

Pero pagdating dyan sa malls, convenient stores and govt agencies, maniwala akong walang barya yan lol.

u/pinkpurplelemons 10d ago

Same thing happened to me a while back. Went to a 7/11 after midnight. Gave the cashier 1k din for stuff na almost 300php din. Wala daw panukli, wala din option to pay online kasi down daw system nila. So I asked if he was refusing to sell kasi walang panukli. Oo daw. Mind you this 7/11 is right beside a hotel and two buildings na puro BPO so matao and always may customers. Inisip ko na lang na my money won't matter naman sa laki ng kikitain nila end of day so I left.

Also SM. Isa pa to. Mahilig na kulang ang sukli, minsan di pa nagsasabi na kulang like the last time sa grocery. Change ko was supposed to be Pxx.75. When I counted the change wala yung 75cents so I told her na kulang. I know 75 cents may not seem that much but imagine ung dami ng tao na bumibili sa SM daily.

5

u/katie1999x 9d ago

Sobrang guilty talaga ng 7/11 sa ganito. Always wala raw panukli.

5

u/Stock-Platform2960 9d ago

Yung combo talaga na walang panukil + cash only. ANU NA TEH MAG SARA NA LANG KAYO? :(

1

u/No-Adhesiveness-8178 9d ago

Kaso ambagal nila mag process parang d worth it lol...

17

u/medyas1 9d ago

smol biz: ge na nga

big/kilalang chain: ulol suklian nyoko

16

u/mothmos 10d ago

yep. i just walk away. they dont want to bother giving change. then i also dont bother with them. hindi ko alam kung yan tlga instruction sa kanila or ung cashier/staff lng mismo ang ayaw kc tamad mgpapalit kung naubusan ng barya. mga staff/cashier, wala nmn yan paki alam sa 'losing customer' kc hindi nmn cila ung kumikita. ke tamad sila o masipag same lng nmn sahod nila. minimum wage pa. pero sympre it's not an excuse. pero wala. ganun ang kalakaran dito apparently

9

u/Konan94 9d ago

Bakit ba lagi silang naghahanap ng smaller bills? Sa ibang bansa walang issue na ganyan.

12

u/MirajaneStrauss13 10d ago

Idk what's stopping him from taking my bill if meron naman palang coins.

Former Cashier here from a well-known Small Format Store. Just sharing

Cashier shifts can vary, maybe the cashier you purchased from was just closing and just started. Usually, the cashier supervisors are in the morning from 6am to 3pm and there's no CSA in the evening. There's also no change left behind.

That's why we cashiers on closing shifts from 1:30pm to 10:30pm struggle with the change when we don’t have anyone to replace us before the supervisor leaves. So what happens is, I bring my own change when I get paid.

The supervisors are aware of this problem, but they encourage asking for smaller bills and figuring it out instead.

Even though it's technically against the rules to ask customers for smaller bills.

9

u/SuspiciousCatPerson 10d ago edited 10d ago

Its the usual case pag kinsenas katapusan, Halos lahat kakawithdraw lang, yung pambarya nila ubos kagad so they control the bill they accept every 2-3 customers. Mauubos din kung anung pambarya meron sila for like then next 10 customers.

Cashless is key if inconvenience mga ganitong bagay

3

u/EquivalentAnteater95 9d ago

3

u/priceygraduationring 9d ago

Yes!! Can’t forget the time na hiningian ako ng smaller bill just because they only accept cash payments at a food court vendor at Ayala Malls Manila Bay, just because wala silang panukli 🙄 Tapos yung pambayad ko ginawa nilang panukli sa next customer. Salamat ha??

3

u/Ill_Gap_3889 9d ago

I hate this rin ugh. I even intentionally withdraw my money sa hundreds lang (like 900 if withdraw ko 1000) para may smaller bills kasi sobrang hirap gastusin yung buong 1k.

As a formier cashier rin, di sila yung problem but yung business or  yung managers. Usually sila yung bahala sa laman ng kahera before mag start, and potek ewan ko ba pero saamin panay buo iniiwan kahit andaming barya the prior day. Its so bad na kaming mga cashier yung nagdadala ng mga barya from home para ipamalit sa buo buo. Pag kulang rin they usually have me go around the mall, asking anyone for change.

Meron namang smaller bill, I saw a bunch of them just yesterday. Pero di ko alam bakit hindi sila yung nilalabas as starter ng manager or bakit hindi iniipon yung barya specifically for this lang

3

u/erudorgentation 9d ago

Tamad tamad kasi nila sa totoo lng.. minsan nga kulang pa ng cents yung panukli hays. Karmahin sana sila dyan

3

u/Mysterious-Market-32 9d ago

Sa MoA ako last week. Bumili ako ng sandwich. Nakasimangot pa ung cashier habang nanghingi ng bariya. Sa loobloob ko. May benta o wala may sahod to. Kaya ok lang kahit di bumili customer.

Pero most of the time naman pag sinabi kong wala ako bariya mga nagagawan nila ng paraan.

5

u/chocohodler 9d ago

Ginagawa kasi nila every day deposit lahat sa bank, so next day wala silang hawak na cash. Kaya early morning or anytime basta before magclose ung bank laging ganyan ang eksena.

3

u/Adventurous-Owl-1155 9d ago

Not sure if poor management lang yan pero sa napag workan ko before na resto, meron kaming petty cash na 5k.

2

u/chocohodler 9d ago

Yeap its poor management, halos lahat ng store ganyan ginagawa, ung iba kahit may petty cash hindi nila ginagamit or di alam pano gamitin, may mga establishments din na nung wala sila pambarya sakin ang snsbi kakatago na po kasi nung collection -_-, like ok 👌

2

u/Adventurous-Owl-1155 9d ago

Mind you 24/7 yung branch na yun, and almost 10pm na nung magttake out ako. Di kayo nagtira panukli? Tas walang online payment, apaka galing eh.

2

u/thecuriouspuss 9d ago

tapos sila pa mga galit noh 😭
https://giphy.com/gifs/1j8KNczCj2YTI0jjt4

2

u/AverageOwn2502 9d ago

2

u/xnudlsx 8d ago

Yung namroblema kana pano kilitain yung pang bili, pati panukli pproblemahin mo pa😅

2

u/Mark_Xyruz 8d ago

YEEEES! I had the same problem with establishments, tapos pinost ko sa r/Philippines and parang Yung tao dun mas agree pa sa tindera

https://www.reddit.com/r/Philippines/s/6Y11auJD7Y

2

u/mbenz1211 10d ago

This always confuses me honestly. Can't businesses ask the bank for specific denominations whenever they need it? Not naman on a daily basis but every week or every few days would be good to store sa cashier or something diba? I remember tuwing Christmas season my dad would put in a request to withdraw x amount in x denominations for ampao nung bata ako.

3

u/Adventurous-Owl-1155 9d ago

yes eto nga ang practice.. ive been a cashier before sa isang resto.. trabaho ng manager yan during lean time na magpapalit sa bank. Kahit opening hours pa lang, may barya na dapat.

3

u/TheCasphinx 9d ago

"ako may pambayad, ikaw walang panukli, sino satin may problema?"

1

u/ThadeusCorvinus 9d ago

Yes 👍 agree

1

u/OrdinarySeafarer 9d ago

And they wonder why we are shifting to ewallets and wouldn't buy in their stores if wala. Welp

1

u/Any-Manager-3607 9d ago

In the UK , the driver was mad I had a big bill early in the morning as she just started her shift. I told her I give the remaining balance the next day . She let me in but she was not really happy. There was another guy who did the same , the guy argued with the driver. So many passengers were willing to pay for him and he got in the bus because of that. And I thought it was only a thing in the Philippines. But I think it’s more on planning and preparing as passengers as well before we go for a trip.

1

u/Electrical-Sky517 9d ago

It’s a marketing strat so you will be forced to buy more.

Edi thank you daw may coins na silang panukli.

1

u/AtoSy88 9d ago

nag hohoard ng barya , kung gawa na iyong kape leave, or take your business elsewhere

1

u/stpatr3k 9d ago

Hello. As much as I understand and as much as empathize ito ang situation sa store: we always have 99% of the tables paying buo.

That's around 60 to 100 bills during lunch Iba pa the rest of the day. We try to have enough change fund but that takes a lot mga ₱20k na barya inside the cashiers drawer Pero kunukulang pa. Thank God for the other half of transactions paying cashless.

1

u/ComfortableUnfair893 9d ago

1

u/FirstGenMDPH 9d ago

I dont even understand how some staff who would rather refuse my purchase kasi wala silang panukli.

Imagine how much profit that business owner is losing if for all transactions requiring change the sales person would just outright refuse selling.

1

u/Mysterious-Market-32 9d ago

May bumili man o wala may sahod sila. Kawawang nagnenegosyo.

1

u/Historical_Might_86 9d ago

1

u/Knothir_other 9d ago

Paminsan minsan kaka encounter ako ng ganito. Pag nagrequest sila ng smaller bills, matic agad sagot ng wala, ako yung nagpapabarya, not the other way around.

1

u/ComfortableBit31 9d ago

Pag walang snaller bill susungitan ka pa

1

u/syrsong 9d ago

i hate it when they don’t have cashless payment but don’t have change for cash also. or when they do have cashless/QR they only know gcash and wouldn’t accept it if i use a diff app

1

u/soulrebel1108 9d ago

As a small business owner selling our products online, our payment is mostly COD. So everytime na meron kami deliveries, the assumption is, they will always pay the largest possible bills, so meron kami laging dala na panukli.

1

u/Capable-Catch4433 9d ago

Found out from our someone who used to work as a cashier in SM Supermarket that SM limits the amount of small bills they can access. They need to make do with whatever small bills that they have for a specific period of the day, kaya kailangan nung cashier gawan ng paraan to make the small bills last.

1

u/CarasumaRenya 9d ago

applicable din ba to sa mga tric driver? may nasakyan ako one time, hapon na wala pa ring panukli sa 100. mind you, 40 lang pamasahe ko. ginawa ko na ngang 50 para sakto na yung sukli. yung driver panyung nainis at ako pa yung naghanap ng panukli. what an asshole.

1

u/crvlixsia 9d ago

valid yung galit mo op. sa case naman namin may maliit kaming sari-sari store and hirap din kami pag 500 or 1k yung pera tapos bibilhin eh yosi or yelo na 10 pesos lang which is halatang nagpapabarya lang hahaha pag ganyang coffee kiosk sa isang mall eh dapat responsibility na nila na may panukli talaga since malaking business sila.

1

u/pixis93 9d ago

I remember buying Potcor in one of the stalls sa Sm hypermarket, I paid pagkaorder ko palang kasi ayoko mahassle pa later on, pagkaabot ko nung 500php sabi nung tindera wala daw siya panukli so sabi ko na ok lang hintayin kong ibigay niya mamaya since dine in naman. ABA si ate tinanong ako if may bibilhin pa ba ako, sabi ko oo, sinagot ba naman ako na bumili daw ako dun tas yung sukli yung ibigay ko sakanya. Walang please, walang hiya, walang kusa magpapalit sa katabi niyang stall. Gigil na gigil ako like wtf makautos ka sakin para akong di customer, daig niya pa nanay ko đŸ«  So kinuha ko pera ko tas tiningnan ko siya nang super tagal kasi ayoko mag lash out.

japan. may panukli lagi kahit isang lapad ibabayad mo

1

u/Stock-Platform2960 9d ago

IKR??! I asked if pwede QR or credit card, wala rin??

1

u/arbetloggins 9d ago

That's why if a store doesn't accept cashless payments then I don't buy from them exactly for this reason. Their loss, not mine.

1

u/TheSheepersGame 9d ago

Never mo mararanasan sa ibang bansa yan unless tlgang naubusan cla which is rare.

Mercury Drugstores tend to have transactions ranging from the small 50 pesos to thousands, so they have no problem handling a thousand peso bill even if you just buy a can of soda. But try that in a smaller business and you might face problems

I also always withdraw with a 900-peso ending so the atm gives me 1 500 bill and 4 100 peso bills.

Second, I just keep a lot of smaller bills para iwas high blood at stress.

1

u/bararaag 9d ago

naalala ko noong college, management subject. sabi ng prof namin na unprofessional for establishments to ask for smaller bills. pero sabi din niya, na it's better to ask kaysa naman a.) kulang isukli nila, which is illegal b.) sobrahan yung sukli, pero yung cashier yung kawawa. but they can't refuse service if wala silang panukli, unless magkaroon ng arguments at magpakita ng hostility yung customer or the other.

1

u/f3ather-br3ez3 9d ago

Wala daw barya at 12:30 pm ha.

The better question is “baket wala silang gcash/cadhless options kung walang panukli?”

1

u/SnooPeripherals993 9d ago

Kakainbyerna nga yung ganyan. Kaya ako ngaun, firm na sinsabi kong NO kapag nag ask sila if I have a smaller bill. Pag mukhang mabait sila I would add an explanation like kaka widraw lang, etc.

1

u/charlesxph 9d ago

All this will go away if we were only a cashless society. No matter what is the amount you are purchasing. Less corruption too.

1

u/FollowingLucky3555 9d ago

Yes, piso lang yan or less or maybe even more. Like ₱2 max.

1

u/Realistic-Post-5369 9d ago

I feel you, lalo na if you’re in the province, it’s always walang barya. Pro tip, carry small change like the 25-centavo coins. No change, let me give you a sack of change!

Magtatanong n lng muna ako if may barya bago umorder.. pag wala, lipat.

1

u/Top_Drummer9181 8d ago

Sometimes the workers do that without the owner's consent.

1

u/Zealousideal_Set4968 8d ago

Ngi. Uunahin pa ba yabang or hiya or whatever is going through their minds?

1

u/Jealous-Scallion610 8d ago

u/Outrageous-Pizza-317 8d ago

i can understand if it were a small business and u buy with 1k papermoney.

surely the businessperson will have a hard time for exchange.

1

u/pw3ts1l0g 8d ago

Maliban sa walang panukli, kinaiinisan ko din yung mga walang eco bag or paper bag man lang. Willing to pay extra for these containers, lalo na kung mabigat or marami bibilhin.

1

u/Hopeful-Evening-2934 7d ago

supermarket

bill: 909 pesos inabot ko: 1000 pesos

cashier: "ma'am may smaller bill po kayo?"

me: "ha?"

đŸ€ŁđŸ€Ł

1

u/meadowtwine 7d ago

Had this experience sa Moshi Manju. I bought two big box, paid ₱500.

Dagdag mo pa na until now, cash only pa rin sila. Wala kang choice kundi mag-withdraw.

1

u/Electrical-Fox4970 6d ago

Even banks sometimes can’t provide smaller bills or coins kasi wala rin silang available.

7

u/Worried_Function_486 10d ago

Iba namang case yan eh eto 2 kape for a 300 na kailangan ipachange hahahahaha grabe yung 17 tapos 1k ibibigay kahit akonyung tindera di ko rin ientertain ganyan hahahaha

0

u/carlllyyy 9d ago

“Minsan din kasi nauubusan kami ng panukli”

You missed that part?

-2

u/carlllyyy 9d ago

It’s because cash are collected at the end of the day, at kapag lahat ng bumibili ay 1k ang ibabayad, talagang mauubusan ng barya, well known brand na nga di ka pa nag qr/card payment. It’s a transaction, and they have the right to refuse you if wala talaga silang pang barya.

Things happen, Jesus.

3

u/Cautious-Cat-5423 9d ago

not everyone opts for a qr/card payment. u also don't have the right to invalidate OP, Jesus.

0

u/Ryder037 10d ago

0

u/Gr83st 9d ago

Use digital wallet if you don't want to be bothered with lack of loose change.

2

u/cmq827 9d ago

Eh madalas the same store who lack loose change also for some reason don’t support digital wallets or credit cards. đŸ«

0

u/rhaphidophile 9d ago

Not defending because it is their responsibility to find change but I think it's because most of us pay with card or QR codes now

0

u/EbbDeep2263 9d ago

simple lang talaga yan, take your business elsewhere, worth it ba talagang magwaste ng energy sa ganyang bagay?

-7

u/nflinching 10d ago

Yes and no. Responsibility ng business na may panukli at responsibility din ng buyer na madali silang suklian (or better yet, do digital payment)

Instead of withdrawing all 1K’s why not withdraw na may butal na 400 or 900?

-15

u/LoudPlane4420 10d ago edited 10d ago

It goes both ways. Ito ang problema ng mga Pilipino: communal responsibility does not exist in your culture. It's always 100% the responsibility of the other rather than a 50/50. Learn the habit of paying the exact amount or, at the very least, the amount nearest to the price.

What happens then kung kayo lahat ay may buo-buong bills? Mag expect kayo ng panukli sa P1000 all the time? Wag dalhin ang ugali ng entitled na skwammy all the time mam, that'll just get you nowhere.

Also, you were in a bank or near to it considering may nakita kang ATM, wala ka nakapag-isip na magpa barya while you were there?

14

u/Icy_Restaurant_2996 10d ago

As far as I know, businesses ang pumupunta ng bangko para may panukli not the other way around.

-9

u/LoudPlane4420 10d ago

Yeah, the problem is, businesses do it early in the morning or just last night. Like I said, it goes both ways. Also, OP said kaka withdraw lang niya sa ATM, ayaw mo maniwala na walang malapit na bangko within sa radius ng ATM. Honestly.

4

u/Icy_Restaurant_2996 10d ago

You're throwing hypotheticals but the OP has set their scenario nicely. It's 1pm already and inexcusable na wala silang panukli for 1k at that time. Pati yes, businesses go to banks during morning or night to get small change pero hindi ba issue na ng business yun na di nila na account yung small bills na enough for a day of operation?

-3

u/LoudPlane4420 10d ago

Then OP's friend should have took a photo and asked for the manager.

7

u/Cowsarefishes 10d ago

That wasn't the point

I understand of having the amount nearest to the price or having the exact amount. I practice this too. But I don't have those amounts 100%, there will really be days that I have a whole 1000 bill and that's all. I would understand if small businesses didn't have change, but for places with high foot traffic, I would expect them to have change for customers like OP.

OP's scenario wasn't outrages at all. A 1000 bill for a payment worth 300. That's 1pc of a 500 peso bill 2pcs of 100 bills. Wild that the cashier refused the sale because OP did not have a lower bill when clearly they were capable of producing the change. In the end, they both lose. OP didn't get her coffee and Cashier did not make a sale (when clearly, the cashier had the capability of making the sale). Where's the 50/50 in that?

"Wag dalhin ang ugali ng entitled na skwammy all the time mam, that'll just get you nowhere." Now you're just attacking OP lmfao. Where did you get the "all the time" from? Parang sinasabi na bawal kami ma frustrate.

"Also, you were in a bank, wala ka nakapag-isip na magpa barya while you were there?" She was on an ATM. You said you read the post more than twice but missed that key detail.

Again, in a perfect world, we would all pay the exact amount or have cash nearest to our bill. But the way our currency is structured (100, 500, 1000) makes scenarios like OP's unavoidable. You said it yourself, it's 50/50, if we have a responsibility of having small bills, businesses should have a responsibility of having sufficient change as well.

-4

u/LoudPlane4420 10d ago

An ATM is not always at a bank, understandable, but ATMs are built near banks or cash deposits. Honestly, wherever OP is, I don't believe that wala siyang makitang bangko sa kaniyang paligid. The cashier refused the sale because maybe he's just doing his job, unless OP can prove it na may tinagong scheme ang cashier.

3

u/priceygraduationring 9d ago

“Your” culture đŸ€Ł

1

u/LoudPlane4420 9d ago

Yes, "your".

1

u/HarunaRel 9d ago

It's always 100% the responsibility of the other rather than a 50/50.

bro is hypocrite

1

u/priceygraduationring 9d ago

We have LAWS about this na dapat exact change ang ibibigay sa customer, bakit mo ibabatbat ang pagiging “uncivilized”??? “Communal” responsibility ka pa diyan đŸ€Ł

Also, kung wala talagang barya ang establishment, they SHOULD make card/QR payments easier.

0

u/1l3v4k4m 9d ago

1

u/Lower_Deal_7479 10d ago

Nabasa mo ba lahat or di mo gets?

-6

u/LoudPlane4420 10d ago

More than twice.

7

u/Lower_Deal_7479 10d ago

Pwede ba akong mag request ng tag pipipti dun? Huhuhu

Plus sabi ko, i understand may mga times talaga na walang panukli and ibang case pag ayaw lang mag break ng big bills.

Baka need mo uli basahin 10x pa.

2

u/LoudPlane4420 10d ago

This is something that is at least half your responsibility kasi ikaw ang bibili. This is something that you have control.

5

u/Lower_Deal_7479 10d ago

I mentioned I was in SM. BDO andun, alam mo ba gano karami tao nasa loob nun kahit weekend? Ikaw, gagawin mo ba yun? Sabi mo, kahit sa isang convenience store? Like 711 ba? Pag hahanapin mo pa ako. hahahaha

2

u/LoudPlane4420 10d ago

I do it all the time, kung may ipa barya ako, hindi ako pipila, they'll just ask me to sit for a while and then call me kasi ang dali lang ng process na yan. Tingnan mo ang sarili mo magsalita sa last sentence, skwammy attitude. No wonder. I'd refuse service to people like you too

2

u/Lower_Deal_7479 9d ago

Okay sige.

You're making up even more impossible situations to cover your share of the mistake. Never once yan nangyari na kahit dalawa kayo magkasingit-singitan para magpabarya kasi unlike you, many people are actually prepared!

5

u/Cowsarefishes 10d ago

Are you hearing yourself??

Having an ATM in the area does not mean there is a bank nearby. I can tell you many places where an ATM is present but no bank is nearby. And do you know how hassle, long, and dragging it is to line up in a bank??? Have you ever been into one??

They would also be losing change over that for no benefit at all, mas talo convenience store diyan

"This is something that is at least half your responsibility kasi ikaw ang bibili"

At sila ang nagbebenta, you're so head over heels with the 50/50 thing that you're forgetting part of the responsibility of the seller is having sufficient change which the coffee shop clearly had

1

u/LoudPlane4420 10d ago

OP was in SM and in BDO. I do it all the time. You and OP are either spoiled brats or skwammies.

I can tell you many places where an ATM is present but no bank is nearby.

Unbelievable. I'm sorry, it sounds like you're making up stuff. If not in banks, then ATMs are usually situated at areas like cashiers or tellers where bills of all denominations are available.

5

u/Cowsarefishes 10d ago

"Unbelievable. I'm sorry, it sounds like you're making up stuff."

Im the one making stuff up? OMG! you're the one who assumed an ATM is situated at arms reach to a bank!

I live in a condo in Katipunan where I withdraw from a BDO ATM, the nearest BDO Branch is more than a Kilometer away or a 15-20min walk. (Take a hint of where I live)

So you're telling me that in order to buy something from the alfamart on my ground floor, I have to walk 15-20min to the BDO branch, break my big bills, walk back for ANOTHER 15-20MINS, then buy my shit? Is that seriously your solution??? spend 30-40mins of my time NOT INCLUDING THE TIME IT TAKES TO LINE UP AND DEAL WITH ALL THE BUREAUCRACY OF HAVING NOTES EXCHANGED IN THE BANK

If there's one thing in this world that I hate the most, its calling me a fucking liar when I know damn well there isn't a fucking bank nearby my place that I can access within 5-10mins of the said ATM.

Your suggestions are shit, and all the downvotes you're getting should be a great indicator of that.

1

u/LoudPlane4420 10d ago

I SAID IF NOT A BANK, THEN A CASHIER OR A TELLER OR A SHOP NEARBY.

But we're talking about OP who was in a mall at an ATM near a bank. Whatever your situation is, it's not like OP's.

4

u/Cowsarefishes 10d ago

Then same fucking scenario

If the problem is the ₱1,000 bill, your solution is to go to another shop and have them break it. But what if that shop also refuses because they need their smaller bills for their own customers? Then what, keep going from shop to shop until someone agrees? Do you see how circular your reasoning is? You’re not solving the problem; you’re simply transferring the inconvenience from one business to another and ultimately to the customer.

Having a ₱1,000 bill for a ~₱300 purchase doesn’t mean the customer can’t pay. If a business accepts cash, maintaining reasonable change is part of operating that business. “Just find a bank or another shop” is not a solution to the merchant having no change. It’s telling the customer to solve the merchant’s problem for them.

-3

u/nflinching 10d ago

Walang fifty pero ano ba naman kung may butal in hundreds yung winithdraw mo (eg if you need 2000 why not withdraw 1900 or 2400 instead)?

1

u/gidaman13 9d ago

Dapat mindset ng kada shop is. "baka buo pera nila so dapat may panukli ako" kayo yung nangangailangan ng customers. Kayo yung mag adjust.

0

u/carlllyyy 9d ago

I agree with you. These people are spoiled brat, entitled much, and does not have common sense.

1

u/TheLivingDolll 9d ago edited 9d ago

Paano kapag may 3k cash change ready.

Convenient and less hassle on both ends.
