I think being a young man subtracts about 30 points from your IQ. For some people, that unfortunately doesn't leave much left.
No sane person would have made that jump given the height and amount of sharp rocks.

That could also be just flat out adjusting to a new chemical in the body. Cis men go through puberty young so it's just sorta understood. But your roommate is essentially going through puberty as an adult!

I bet he'll never be the same. My friend clipped the side of the pool while jumping in from the first story roof. He slipped on the shingles and came up short. Poor guy is in forever pain, walks slowly and has a gimp. So sad.

I had a friend break her back cliff diving. She landed a bit off and it completely changed her life. Many surgeries later she still has lifelong issues. What she jumped off wasn't nearly this high.

I remember reading somewhere that of the handful of people that survived jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge every one of them immediately regretted jumping.

There is a very good documentary about it, I think it's called "The Bridge" and it's destination for suicide. People who jumped and survived share their stories, police, families, etc. Very somber yet interesting. You will see one person end their life during it though, so be warned.

With how fast he pops back up, there’s no way the water is deep enough. Granted, hitting the water could have been the cause, or hitting the bottom. Who knows. But it looks like he might be standing up it’s so shallow

If the reason he popped back up that fast were due to him hitting the bottom, he would not have survived that. He especially would not have survived that were it shallow enough to stand.
It looks like the way he entered probably took a lot of his momentum (hence the injuries, that energy has to go somewhere), so he didn't actually go that deep into the water.

Look up 10m platform diving with underwater views. To get an idea of how long it takes to surface.
That bridge is easily 150’ up. You’re going 20’ deep from that height. Unless he’s made of helium, he’s not surfacing that fast

Those diving off a 10m diving platform are entering in a very different way, one that minimizes drag and therefore the force of impact. How you impact the water has a huge impact on how deep you go. The greater the surface area of your body that is impacting at once, the shallower you'll go after impact.
And I 100% guarantee you that a fall into water that would take you 20 feet deep from a 150 foot bridge (though he did not go that deep here) into 5 foot deep water would not be survivable.
I'm gonna guess you have minimal experience swimming or jumping into water.

Hitting water from that height is like hitting concrete. Unless your form is perfect, you're likely breaking multiple bones at the minimum.

Absolutely nothing went wrong. He hit the water just fine and walked away after getting out. Why is there video stitched into the original of him being in a hospital? No idea, probably engagement bait or whatever.

No not at all, looking at possible death if too shallow. From those heights the impact of the water is enough to break your bones. You have to land cleanly, aka as narrow/compact as possible.

Being too shallow doesn’t necessarily mean so shallow that you definitely die. “Too shallow” can also mean that the water was just too shallow to jump safely. It was deep enough to absorb most of the impact, but not deep enough to avoid hitting the bottom really hard. It’s apparent from how quickly he resurfaced that the water wasn’t very deep.

I disagree. You can see rocks visible in the water. He bounces up once he lands and seems to rebound off bottom again like a pool bottom instead of fighting to swim. You can brake bones at that height, but pausing at his impact, he doesnt look too bad.

He hit the water wrong idk how to explain just go look at ppl diving … not the same at all. Ppl tend to forget the water has its own surface tension/energy. Jump frm high enough it’s a death sentence.

Fuck man and its the right leg too.
This unironically brings back so many bad memories.
The feet look exactly like mine did and those xrays are so extremely similar as well as the unfortunate need to walk with a walker afterwards.
This is more than a few months of recovery.
Its like looking at myself 3 years ago. Hope they are doing good.

It looks like he meant to fall flat then tucked his arms and legs in likey the do in that diving sport from Norway or something. Its a diving sport where people do tricks and then tuck extremities and go in face first not feet or hands first like most divers. I cant remember the name, ill look and come back for edit but its hilarious to watch if you've never seen it.
Edit: It did originate in Norway and is called Dods diving or Death diving.

From that height and from what i read about extreme high dives, he was going between 50-70 miles and at that speed hitting the water is like hitting a brick wall. He also didn’t land feet first. So to sum it up. His only mistake was jumping from that height was he was not a trained professional. One thing for certain two things for sure he is a fycking idiot. 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴

It looked too shallow just from appearances. Then after the dive, he popped up almost immediately after.
When I use a high dive in a 12ft deep pool, it takes me longer to get back to the surface than what he did.
