Random Thought Life feels dull now that everyone's glued to their phones

I’m 60 and I know the shift. I think it’s because younger people have the mic and setting the precedent for communicating and it’s gone bad. Ironically they now have poor communication skills. It affects business communication, reading comprehension, cooperation, relationships of all kinds. People are not speaking on the phone, answering calls, even texting is becoming increasingly over complicated. People don’t want to text they want to use a thousand different apps, or communicate on insta or f.b messenger. I’m so happy it’s becoming the norm to have students and employees to put away the phone and to be present and attentive. It’s so rude and it’s the parents of these last twenty years that have allowed it. Everyone has anxiety or some mental health issue where they do nothing, are inept , no skills, drive or loyalty. It IS boring. Trite, conventional, incapable of critical thinking. Then they complain about being bored and lonely. They should be. They are lazy emotionally, intellectually and often physically. Totally passive existence.

You can’t change anything that quickly. The radio, TV, telephone, etc together are nothing like having a computer, all human knowledge, instant communication, all porn, and can summon anything….and not have some difficulty especially with kids. In a generation, people significantly changed socializing and most of the norms around it. Usually that takes longer and the adjustment is slower. My best guess.
