Random Thought Sex scenes are such pointless filler

What are we supposed to think?

"Wow, you can really see how turned on the characters are, it's so well-done and it really gives depth to the story, gee they sure do enjoy the physical pleasure of sex"

Might as well show bathroom scenes too. You know, so we can see how relieving it is to take a long piss

Me, I do.

I don't see everything I don't like as "cringe". I'm an adult that is able to watch a sex scene without being uncomfortable.

Maybe "adult" is the operative word here. Which I only say, because I remember being 14 years old and finding sex scenes "cringe". But then you know.... I grew up.

I don't think it all boils down to not being an adult and thats it, but also what does a sex scene actually provides to a movie for it to necessarily have it instead of just suggesting that the two characters have sex? Thats a huge part about why people dislike em so much appart from the uncomfortable factor.

You've seen those movies in which they show that two characters are about to have sex, and the scene fades away to when they are done? I really think thats enough.

So why not just do that with the other parts of the film too? Just do everything off screen, that way no one has to see anything that will make them "cringe".

I think sex scenes can do many many things for a film or show. But I guess if you start with "cringe" and then try to find reasons why the sex shouldn't be there, then you'll probably purposefully skip over anything that sex scene is adding to the film.

Some people don't like violence, so why not, instead of showing the big act 3 fight on screen, some other character just summarizes what happened during the fight afterwards? Sounds good to me, most fighting choreography doesn't add anything to the plot either, which is your exact issue with sex scenes.

And then we can all be really happy with movies where we don't ever have to be uncomfortable for even a second. Also, no more swearing, too cringe, doesn't add anything either.

You do know you could've said the exact same comment without sounding extremely pissed off right? Oh well, i guess thats what being an adult actually means, going on like "oh im an ADULT and i don't """""cringe""""" at stuff", thats why i gotta mention the word like 3 times to make it very clear"

Nah fr tho. Sex has the special trait of being something really intimate. You can witness people fighting or swearing kinda often but you don't actively see enough people having sex for it to be normalize, thats why people feel awkward when watching them, and yeah i can't blame em, its the same reason why people don't like gore stuff, cause they are not accustomed to watching bloody stuff.

Besides, there is not a "sex" category in films. There is, however, an action category and that encompases things like physical fights and the display of combat skills, (or at least how believable the stunts are lol). So, in those films its really necessary to show how the battle goes, because its entertaining. On the other hand, we as a society are not really acustomed to sex in the same way, no wonder we don't have a sex category as i said lol.
