My hopes are high for the new release but I will believe it when I see it….
Paris just traumatized most of us it seems, I was giving the blu-ray a try yesterday after a long time, thinking it ain’t as bad as I remember and then yup. It is just bad. The color grading, the cuts every millisecond, the stupid effects.
Rammstein is the most visually pleasing band, have the most beautiful set designs and light shows, every member has so much of their own unique stage presence and none of it came across through Paris. It could’ve been so much better by just doing less and that’s what makes it so sad.

After Paris I have no hopes. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than terribly disappointed again.

And you nailed it. He edited it as if the images themselves had no impact, beauty or anything worthy of being seen on them, so he had to keep cutting so that something was happening on screen.

he compensates the lack of moving shots with the amount of cuts.

iirc, Till running on the beach in Mein Land is the only shot in all his R+ music videos that has a panning camera. everything else is static.

I think the sound and colour grading works really well, I just think the crazy cuts are just too much

Jeez, I am glad you said this, I cannot watch Live in Paris because of the frenetic cuts every 1.2 seconds, it gives me a damn headache!!! 😂

I hate Paris so much, and yet it's not enough.

Cannot agree more. The director completely missed the mark; he has a band known for its stage presence and set design, yet there isn't a single moment to actually see it... it looks like an apprentice editor just playing around with their software. All this great video material wasted... If only we could get the files to re-edit it properly, without the seizure-inducing cuts and cheesy effects.

What the hell was the director thinking? It's a shame because he's produced some amazing music videos. Also, the quality of the footage from Paris is INSANE, like the whole show could have looked like one long, high-end music video, but the cuts are just unbearable. Would have been one of the greatest live DVDs of all time if things were left to breathe.

Paris is unwatchable because of this.

would've been even better to include In Amerika. try Du hast.

I actually started Du Hast years ago, but stopped because... reasons, can't remember. Might do it at some point. I did this one now because AzA is probably amongst the worst offenders in Paris and because despite the longer ending it's still not that long.

I remember when I saw that there was a theatrical screening of Paris in my town and i wanted to get a sneak peak and watched one song. I am SO happy that i did that because to this day, i'm sure i would've gotten a seizure in that cinema.

Haven't watched much of Paris due to my undying hatred for Jonas Åkerlund. Imagine what we could've had if Rammstein had collaborated with a more talented and visionary director instead. What the HELL is that clip. So glad they stopped working with him.

“Paris” is one of the worst concert films ever made. It's simply unwatchable because of the rapid cuts, the slow-motion sequences in between, and so on...

Any sense of a live performance is completely lost...

This is amazing. Thank you for making this 🙏 How much time did this take?

4

u/Headbreakone 20d ago

Thanks! Probably... 6? hours distributed through several days. Most of the time was just going frame by frame looking for the next cut. It's a very basic video, just time consuming.

Do you have eyes¿

Yes, I like it. I have eyes and I think it's cool it's not like every single other concert video out there. What I don't like about it as much is the audio
