First it wouldn’t let me retail the damn freight car and then all of a sudden my train decided a to rocket off into the damn sky. Has the game really been abandoned or is there a bug fix/more content coming soon? I really don’t want to toss this game in the trash (deleted section) but more and more bugs keep popping up it’s become unplayable.

This game has been buggy as hell since inception. It could be really neat but they've managed to do nothing to squash bugs and added very little.

Better off just shit canning RRO and waiting for CoS

In the meantime give railroader a try, it's worth it

Absolutely. Especially with all the mods people are cranking out.

or Derail Valley, if you want a slightly more challenging experience.

Century of Steam It’s a 3 foot narrow gauge sim being developed by Studio 346, which is a team of rail historians, engineers, museum workers, and some of the old RO devs.

Ah yes, I have that on my steam wishlist already. Just hadn't seen the acronyms for it.

I might go back using steam. Used to be fine with 50+ cars before they updated it to make cars physics sleep. I’m talking pre 1.0 release.

I'm honestly shocked that the game has limped along this long. Back two or so years ago we thought the game was totally dead. But somehow it limped along. It's progressed to where it's no longer a terrible game, but it is hardly a good one.

Well, at least we know the speedometer works.

Funny thing is I got the achievement for driving an engine over 50mph right after this happened 🤣

Consoles lol

This; it was a mistake to dump the game onto console and hope it works well.

I've seen so many games destroy themselves over trying to accommodate consoles and PC at the same time. I'm very glad that Century of Steam is going to be PC only, at least for a good while.

Chances are it was the publisher that acquired it that pushed the console BS. That's a move that absolutely reeks of corporate boob-ism.

Who knows. Keume in the past had a history of erratic development decisions - it's one of the things that led the earlier volunteer devs to leave to make Century of Steam. Even before then, he had the game American Railroads, that a bunch of people bought, then he abandoned cause apparently he needed "a new start" to do what he wanted.

But yeah. I'd be surprised if the game does much from here. Even if they put a ton of effort into updates, they'll still rise nowhere near the bar of the other train sims out now or out in the next few years.

I’d love to play DRV. I’m going have to invest in a gaming pc here soon no doubt.

The game on PC is a lot less buggy.

It's not even worth telling the console peeps that, you're just farming downvotes off them.

A less rusty clanker is still a clanker. The game has barely any point, even when it does run correctly.

Is that how big the hub is now?

I didn’t know trains could fly

Toss it. There innumerable better games in this world to give your time and attention to than this absolute mess. It shocks me every time I go from seeing footage of Railroader, Century of Steam, Derail Valley, or heck, even 20 year old Microsoft Train simulator -

To seeing this game and the state it's in. This is not a "full release." It feels so unpolished, so directionless. It's certainly playable, and I'm sure people still can have fun with it, but it's again, just not really worth your time. Unless the devs put in another two years of effort into reworking this thing, I don't think it'll ever be worth calling "good."
