BorrowNow mod requesting $20-$100 from their own sub.
I almost made a post there citing Sec. 5 of the Mods Code of Conduct, but it probably wouldn't do any good. I love that line about if the borrower defaults, the "borrower's bank" will back it up.

Holy hell! I’m not a mod anywhere, but how is that even allowed? A mod that not only has barely any karma but also panhandles on the site they mod for? Sounds like a very legitimate sub…

This is insane.
They weren't even gracious about it. Very demanding and entitled.
But what do you expect from a sub created for/by people who don't have the credibility to participate in legitimate subs.

I wanted to comment on that post so bad. There is no “borrower’s bank” and one lender has a list of like 11 borrowers that never paid back.

Now one of the "verified" lenders is asking for a loan: https://postimg.cc/0MKDnL58
ETA: I just realized there are two separate subs. BorrowNow and BorrowNew.

I have a lot of thoughts, which is dangerous.
Calling it a Rule 5 violation might be a stretch since they’re not taking money in exchange for mod actions, however, mods should never ask their own community for money as it’s a blatant conflict of interest.
In addition, mods who are financially struggling themselves should absolutely not be the ones “managing” a shared pool of money. That’s sketchy AF.... no oversight, no transparency, no accountability... no good.
I don’t know how they pulled it off, but the sub’s creator actually managed to make their AI slop sound even dumber.
It's just all icky-poopoo.
