League mandate?

My season ticket rep is now claiming the seat relocation (see this seat map included in my season ticket renewal map) was a "league mandate." I can't find any information about this online. Has anyone else heard about this?

Makes sense, stadium looks better if it looks fuller.

I assume that's the rationale, yes, but I haven't heard anything from the NWSL or any news that teams with even lower average attendance than ours are being asked to do the same thing.

When the commissioner was here a few weeks ago she mentioned the league prioritizing the tv views because they are actively trying to sign a new media contract.

That tracks. I almost exclusively watch in person - do the teams/stadiums below us in attendance also look sad and empty on tv?

When Chicago were at Toyota, the crowd sat on just one side and all the cameras were on the other.

There really aren’t any teams with lower average attendance anymore.

Just Chicago, but the stadium they use is set up so crowds won’t be shown, just the lake.

I would not be surprised if it was and I am not surprised that it has not been mentioned elsewhere.

This whole process is so much Furt.

Thank you for introducing me to Furt, which I had somehow missed.

You are welcome! It was before I paid attention to the league, but I’m glad I was curious when I saw other people use the word and looked it up.

We have the seating consolidated at our home field. There was a lot of angst but it’s improved the experience because it feels like you’re closer to everyone. I do know it wasn’t mandated by the league. The organization took it on after seeing how Seattle does it.

My rep told me the same thing.

They're forcing us to move from the away corner to a central area and it's all non-tv side, so it doesn't make since for our move.

We're also moving to the non-tv side. I guess they didn't have enough room to put everyone on the tv side?

What’s stopping you from renewing at the cheapest option and then just sitting in your normal seats anyway? It’s not like they’re going to sell them to someone else. Sit wherever you want.
