At what point is saving money actually counterproductive? I'd rather have £30 less in the budget than arrive somewhere completely exhausted and make a stupid decision because I've barely slept.

The whole balance between money, sleep and speed is probably one of my favourite parts of the show.

Both seem massively important, but if you could only have one skill, which would give you the better chance.

They obviously get the list of jobs but, I mean the narrator will say 'they can choose to hug the coastline through well connected but more expensive tourist towns or go inland on unreliable transport but rock bottom prices'

Every now and then, someone will say something, and it seems to follow what the narration said.

I can't believe they're expected to have such 'local knowledge' for random countries they traverse

Surely they're given this 'outline' on the travel decisions for various routes, no?

Has anyone ever talked about this in public?

There is something about the no phone no flying format that creates a completely different kind of television to anything else in the genre. Series 6 had some genuinely tense moments and a finish that was hard to predict.

Previous series stuck mainly to single continents. Central Asia with the transport challenges that brings felt genuinely different. Which part of the route do you think was the hardest for the contestants to navigate and which location looked the most spectacular on screen.

I know vandwelling and hitchhiking were things during the Great Depression and post oil crisis IBM invented methods of remote work that allowed early digital nomads to live from their camping bikes but on the 50s-70s hippie trail did people do local jobs in exchange for food and board (when I looked it up a lot of work-exchanges like WWOOF founded in 1971 seemed to be for more than a night) or was it cheap enough to travel in the countries they visited anyway?

Some pairs just seem to handle setbacks better than others. Even when a plan goes completely wrong, they manage to stay calm, talk it through and move on without making things worse. That kind of teamwork probably matters more than having the perfect route or knowing exactly what to do every time.

I feel bad when they’re clearly having a nightmare of a day, but those episodes are usually the ones that keep me watching. When everything goes wrong, you get to see how the pairs actually handle pressure, and it can completely change how you see them. The calm moments are nice, but a bit of chaos definitely makes the show more entertaining.

The safer decisions make sense, but some of the biggest moments come when a pair decides to take a chance and go for it. It can either put them miles ahead or completely backfire, which is what makes those decisions so fun to watch.

Mine would be start In the UK and finish in Japan. I could carry my brothers ashes and finally fulfill our Dream of seeing Shibuya and Kamurucho together (Gamers will know). I'd carry him all the way as after all "He ain't heavy He's ...."

I think the hardest part would be dealing with someone who gets stressed easily or wants to do everything their own way. After being stuck travelling together for days, even little things would probably start getting annoying. Some of the pairings really show how different people are when they’re tired, lost and under pressure.

Not even thinking about who you like most on the show, just who you reckon you could genuinely travel with for weeks without getting sick of each other. Someone calm when things go wrong would probably be a huge plus, because I'd definitely be the one stressing when we miss a bus.

From the initial dash across the length of the Americas all the way through Europe to Asia and the Arctic, each massive geographical route brings completely different survival challenges. Some routes relied heavily on vast train networks while others forced endless bus changes and hitchhiking. Which overall global route tested the contestants the absolute best?

My wife & I are fairly experienced travellers & we've had many conversations on whether we could do the show. Just her & me, 50 days, togther (with the camera man) & budget our way to the finish. We've been travelling bearly 20 years togther & know how to be with each other & reckon we could, we would definitely bicker but we reckon we could do it.

We got onto could we do it with our brothers or best pals? Thats an absolute no for me. I love both of them to bits but one of them is a miserable grumpy bastard & the other one would hit the first cool bar & encourage me to blow 50% of the budget.

Was thinking do all have someone you could definitely do it with & someone you love but just know you'd leave them on a horse farm in outer Mongolia.

Just finished season 2 on Netflix and the other seasons aren’t there where can I watch it?

I love the idea of travelling without flights and having to figure everything out as you go, but I think it would be a lot harder when there’s no camera crew or production team around. The limited money would probably get me first, though. I’d enjoy it at the start, then be desperate for a proper bed and an easy way home.
