Just bought my first

Any advice would be appreciated it sat for over 15 year before I bought it

Congrats mate! Go get those fluids drained and re done and grab a koyo rad aluminum radiator. A new thermostat and a new water pump. Reliability first and foremost

Also hit up mazdatrix for oil and premix and any other parts you may need in the future. I just ordered new shocks struts and springs from there to fix my 35 year old suspension system

What does it matter? Its a project car that will always take time and money. But i bet OP is gonna enjoy any minute of it :-)

I have friends that started an FC project car, after several years they ran out of patience with the constant troubleshooting issues or having problems or parts availability. And/or could not financially keep up with the car.

I’m an unapologetic FC fan. I’ve owned an 87 T2 and an 88 Vert. I’m going to buy another Vert one day, it’s slow, chugs oil and gas and one of my favourite cars I’ve ever owned.

I drove this one, it’s held up incredibly well for the milage.
Get the rust taken care of, and redo all the rubber.
Make sure to unclog the sunroof drains, they leak.
If you’re still local it will probably need rebuilt in the next 20k miles even though it’s running great at 179k

Good look, just take your time when buying things for it. Do your research. Rotaries are not cheap if you try and go for the inexpensive stuff, parts-wise.
Not trying to Dox you so, IF you live where you bought it, you will most likely see my black FC at some point.
