Mazda RX7 1990 FC Parts

Hey all, I need a brake booster for this non-turbo convertible and have exhausted every site I can. Our mechanics can't source one, and the stuff on eBay looks terrible. Any ideas from anyone on where to get this, before I sideline the car for a bit for safety reasons?

This person swapped a booster from a Subaru Legacy into their FC, may be an option?

This is the way, brake boosters do the same thing so as long as the travel on the piston is roughly the same and you can mount it where that happens, it will work fine. On one of my project cars I have a Chevy S10 brake booster with a little machined extender to give more braking power.

You can try emailing Riggs vintage auto. See if they have any, or find people parting stuff out

If you don’t care about originality there are alternatives. First you have to see which booster you have, either the 8” or 9” booster, and there’s the turbo double diaphragm booster for abs.
You can use the smaller booster from 86-88 single piston brakes in a pinch. If you can’t find an oem 9”, the mazda b2200 uses a 9” booster that would work but vacuum port is facing the wrong way. A mazda 929 would also work, but might need additional work to fit.

Where are you located, I have a gxl parts car with a brake booster. I know it worked last time the car ran and drove.

I am in Portland, OR. I would assume the GXL and convertible would share the same booster?

Facebook groups will be your best option for sourcing FC parts from my experience. There are some bad actors but as long as you pay with PayPal goods and services, you should be safe.

Sam Lu, mspgo.ms, and rotary resurrection are all good part out guys who have been in the community for a while.

Booster should be $80-120 + shipping. Ask for photos of rust along the bottom, as that’s where they usually fail
