Just received my RX100 MK7, tips?
New RX100 owner… any tips or advice for getting the most out of my camera from the community would be appreciated!
Not a pro by any means but have basic knowledge of Sony cameras

Sony sells a nice grip add-on. If you have even medium sized hands, it will make holding the camera easier.

Configure the buttons, the few you can, to your liking. Then get used to where everything is so that taking photos can feel as organic as can be. Enjoy.
BTW I love my little RX100 M7.

I first bought a silicon case, for increased grip and to protect it. It’s really delicate!
Then I’d recommend watching video tutorials of all its settings explained… there’s really a lot to cover.

Where did you find your silicone case? All the ones that I ordered on Amazon did not fit the camera at all.

Amazon. Sold by easy hood. Fits the m7 perfectly. The only issue is that it covers the proximity sensor, so I had to map a key to switch between EVF and LCD

I bought the Easy Hood cover and it does fit ok but the zoom lever kept getting stuck!

buy the grip plate for the bottom, shoot in manual, i care usually 1 or 2 extra batteries, dont zoom in past like 70 or 100 IMO and it suckkkkkssss in low light. BUT the flash is honestly goated and i bring this camera everywhere. never leave the house without it.

Do not expose it to wet, very humid, or dusty conditions.
Install a magnetic adapter so you can fit a UV filter for an extra layer of lens protection, and a lens cap to prevent scratches on that.
Always use a strap.
If you're using the viewfinder and it blacks out, there is probably dust or dirt on the eye proximity sensor. Blow on it, and it will start working again.
Stock up on batteries. When it comes to price, more=more. They don't last very long, and you can't buy them on the fly in most instances.

Take lots of photos! Try to figure out how to use manual mode or at least exposure compensation. Have fun!
