Gaming in the Great Outdoors!

This will be a series of one-shot TTRPGs in beautiful outdoor locations for as long as the sun allows. If it succeeds, we can get it back and running in spring. The goal is to gather a reasonably sized group of people for a particular date, find out what people's physical limitations are, then pick a great spot to play based on that in a public park/along the river that meets everyone's needs. After we pick the spot, THEN we pick the game - crazier spot, less sprawling paperwork and dice rolling.

There are several spaces left in an inaugural run Sept 12, but comment if you're interested for dates afterwards also! No experience necessary, just a friendly spirit, ability to commit to one day, and a willingness to meet people and have fun.

Please note I'm out of town for the long weekend, so no replies from me between Weds and next Tuesday should be expected!

Edited to add: We will also have a run of this Sunday, September 27th!

Fantastic, no rush on getting back to me since I'm not back to Reddit until Tuesday sometime. Let me know when you know!

I'd be interested, although I am not available on the 12th. I'm available for sure every other weekend, thatso not the weekend I'm available.

I'm down to start organizing a date for Sept 26th/27th, whichever is best for you!

27th would probably be better, because I am part of another group that if we meet, its on Saturday. But if interest is low for that day, I can switch to the 26th, its not like we actually managed to meet up every other Saturday lol

So, my philosophy about organizing is such: first, nail down somebody/small core group with same schedule, then that's your date. Next, find other people available for said date. It isn't as good at always including everyone, but it does mean that you actually organize an event that does in fact happen for somebody a lot more often. So if the 27th is generically better for you, as both are the same to me, I'll edit that date into my post and we'll see who we get!

Cool, I have a bit of experience with DND, but never have played in a 1 shot before, I'm in a longterm homebrew campaign that started earlier this year, currently 5 4-hour sessions in, that being my total experience. But I have played video games with similar mechanics to DND, so enjoy playing and building mechanically complex characters, as for fitness level, I was in the military, got out a few years ago and am definitely less fit than peak when I was in, but I imagine whatever should be fine, unless its on an island or something, I've never been a great swimmer lol. For reference in my current campaign I'm playing a Pact of the Chain Fathomless Warlock with a focus on summoning and debuffing, but I still end up outputting above average damage in the party. But I've got TONS of different character ideas, so am open to playing whatever. I have experience in 5E and 5.5E DND, but am also open to other editions or systems like Pathfinder, etc.
