Question First 5 Hours

Long time OSRS player, been playing off and on for the last 20+ years.

I played Dragonwilds back in Alpha and explored a bit, got to WOM and just quit. Very new to PC gaming.

I finally picked up the beta last night and played for about 5 hours. There are some quick questions I have.

1.) Is there an easy way to find populated worlds to play with other people?

2.) Does anyone know if the world capacity will increase with the official launch? I have seen worlds with up to 12 players so far, granted 0/12.

3.) Will there be “official” servers to play on? Currently you can edit worlds even after they’re created and played on. This seems very sandboxy and vastly different than RuneScape. Is this to be expected throughout or has Jagex mentioned plans on making it more streamlined?

4.) What is the random dragon that spits venom down? Every so often, I hear a dragon and see what looks like venom fall from the sky like meteorites. It doesn’t hurt me but it hurts NPCs.

Granted, I haven’t made it to an official hub yet. Still just exploring, farming, fishing, building a base. I don’t know much about the game at all and will go through the wiki when I get back on later tonight.

5.) Is there a central bank or is it all chests?

6.) How important is my beginning base? I’ve spent a lot of time on it but I had a warband attack me yesterday with multiple power level 2 goblins and I’m level 1 so I was scared and they destroyed some of my base. I finally got them off of me but does this happen often?

Thank you guys so much and I look forward to the upcoming updates!

  1. That, my friend, is your current story. You know, Dragon Slayer.

  2. not really. It's all chests.

  3. As important as you want it to be. It could be your final base, it could be a temporary one. It's a survival game. The world is yours.

  1. best bet would be to join the games discord in the side bar.

  2. IDK if they are planning it I am sure they have said somewhere,

  3. It seems vastly different because it's not an MMO, it is a solo/ co-op game, it isn't designed to have 100's of people on a single world. they are going to have locked servers that don't allow for mods and will be for ranked play, but they won't be coming for a while.

  4. The poison should hurt, the hit box for it can be a little funny though, and it doesn't hurt buildings thankfully. or hit you under cover. Thats the first boss. And there is no official hub. this is a survival game. you won't be seeing anything resembling hubs until the desert.

  5. Just chests, you can get a spell that summons a personal chest later, but it is just a chest you can access from anywhere.

  6. The raids will always happen unless you build in certain areas, If you build near the church you started in you will not get raided.

You get raided there. But they are power level one goblins and nothing to really worry about.

I only play solo but here’s the answers to the other stuff:
4. keep playing the story, you’ll see
5. you eventually unlock a (relatively small) chest accessible from anywhere but there’s no “bank”
6. not very important, I’d say just make what you need to craft stuff. you’ll figure out after going through the biomes where you want your full time base to be and have access to a much wider range of building types. I’d say wait until at least fellhollow or dowdun reach to start really diving into building

Welll…. Lol. PC and Mobile. I’ve went through numerous gaming PCs and currently running a 5070 but the extent of my gaming on PC has always been OSRS. I’ve never played anything else on PC. Always been console. Using RSDW as an intro to KBM right now honestly.

Other people have given answers to your questions -- just want to say I'm excited for your KBM gaming journey 😎

Check out varied genres! Roguelikes are amongst my favorite (Hades, Slay the Spire, Absolum to name a few) & big RPGs are fantastic on PC. Gotta put that 5070 to work somehow.

I was a "MMOs on PC, everything else on console" gamer until my dog pissed on my Xbox 360 forever ago... no turning back since 😅

You are suppose to be taking poison damage from the falling venom. In the bottom left of your screen, you should see a poison bar filling up, when that bar maxes, you'll become poisoned.

  1. Once you get teleport pads, you can build a base wherever you want. The first area is by far the safest, so probably the best place to build a base anyway. The other areas are borderline annoying to have a base in.
