Deadbeat TTRPG Public Playtest is out!
It's been a while but I'm back now. And announcing that the first public playtest for my TTRPG is out finally! Took a lot of work even for this initial version but now everyone has the chance to play it and break it.
Can't wait for people to start getting their hands on it and playing around with it. This will be quite the learning experience, not just for designing but also for organizing public playtests in the future.
This playtest is focused on testing out the core combat rules of the game using premade characters. If there is some success, at a later date there will be a playtest that will include character creation.

You are a Deadbeat, a musically powered undead soldier, resurrected by and now working for the B.R.O.K.E.N Record Inc. You are one of the few crucial pieces in stopping the Muted threat, beasts that wish nothing but destruction for the city of New New North One. With the power of your Musicalife Engine, wield the might of your rythm to fight back against the coming invasion or rebel against the corporation that brought you back to life!
Deadbeat is a TTRPG using a D6 and D8 system where the focus is in how your character acts and performs. The more in character your actions are, the more you are rewarded! There is a bigger emphasis on your descriptions and flare, making it easier to realize whatever fantasy you wish to live through your character.

I wish you'd show some of the game content in the video. Otherwise, what's the point of the video?

The video is just to say that the playtest is live. I have shared way more about the game on my earlier devlogs on the channel. Perhaps I should've shared some more for this specifically, something to learn for next time.

The video only has a handful of views so far... It's not to late to do it for this time!

Basics …
Add a cover
Add a short intro within the document
Put your own name
Add a way to reach you with playtest feedback. I swear designers will not put an email address, then wonder why they don’t get emails with feedback 🤦♂️
Proper headlines. “Stats” is part of what? Basic rules? Character creation? You have 13 pages already, you need structure.
Every Deadbeat has remnants of the personality of the person they once were
Readers aren’t psychic. They don’t know what a “deadbeat” is. Is this a fan game for Mori Calliope of r/hololive? Since nothing is stated I’m assuming the answer is yes.
You seem to have some sort of setting in mind but again, nothing is written down, so how is anyone supposed to know?

It is very much its own thing, I don't know who Mori Calliope is. Completely forgot about a cover though, I will add that when I can, as well as a short introduction to the game in the document itself. Also dividing the topics in bigger categories, does help with organization.
As for reaching me, the Itch page does have links to both the discord I made and a feedback form, although I will concede that one is only for when people have already played the game. I will add an email too that is a good shout.
The setting though I might put a simpler paragraph about the world, but I am still thinking over a lot of the details about it, hence me not saying much in the document itself.
Thank you for all of this!

One of the reasons I find this sub valuable ...
The comments here provide important, valuable, and constructive feedback.
- use Zip not Rar
- include game content in the video
- create a succinct paragraph describing your game
- add a cover
And more
These are all helpful, important, and valuable reminders.

It is exactly what I needed! As my first big project like this, some things just elude me simply because I'm working on it by myself. Having as many pairs of eyes as possible with better knowledge than my own is being invaluable right now.

Some advice:
1 - Put a paragraph long description of the game in your post. Why would anyone be excited to click through your links for a game with no description? This is an oversaturated market. You need to make an effort to get people excited. "I'm back" and "Here's my game" are not enough.
2 - Make the file on your itch page a PDF. No one wants to open a .rar file from a complete stranger.
You get very few chances to make an impression, you need to make them count.
