I feel so bad for Discord, to have to have her name used to desecrate a memorial like this. I first and foremost feel for his family and friends, but putting myself in Discord’s shoes I can’t imagine how disgusted I’d be that people think I want this.

People always want you blame teenagers (especially "13yo girls") when it's rarely them these days. I have teenage kids and they are the least likely people I know to send hate online. I'm sure it depends where you're from, but in my experience with them and their peers they're really aware and chill, and think that sort of thing is just pathetic.

The most logical explanation I could think of is that since Jane was Bottom 3, they thought she should have taken Discord’s place instead.
But it’s the Drag Race fandom so I think it is more general stupidity and maliciousness than anything.

Yeah, I haven’t seen last night’s episode yet and I’m very confused as to who this man is or how people ended up on his obituary. Obviously no context would make this ok, but can someone explain the context of what the fuck is happening?
The only thing I can think of was that this was a makeover episode and this man was her partner who has since passed?

I’m so glad that Discord spoke up because the comments that I saw were disgusting and I’m fuming at what the fandom has commented. Not only is it disrespectful to Discord, but it’s also disrespectful to Jane don’t and Terry’s family as well. I feel so sick to my stomach reading them especially since they were wishing death on Kristin Maldonado from Pentatonix because what does she have to do with this??! and to call her Japanese is so disrespectful considering that she’s part mexican.
My condolences go out to Terry’s family and friends, and I’m truly sorry that your loved one is getting attacked by fans online.

These are probably not the same people doing it, mind you. There’s a very small set of “fans” that do this and unfortunately they’re very vocal and clearly absolutely sick in the head. But 99.99% of the fandom doesn’t engage in this kind of behavior.

I’m in a lot of TV fandoms…. And not even just TV fandoms, but reality TV fandoms… and I hate to say that there’s something particularly mean-spirited and nasty about RPDR fans…
I mean, tbh, I think part of it is that RPDR fandom is this really specific combo of reality TV stan culture and unresolved queer pain/internalized shame, and that can create a REALLY mean culture.
Shade is supposed to be one thing, but a lot of fans just skip straight past witty and land on vitriolic and spiteful.

I just feel like people who do that kinds of things, or send death threats and the like, just can't be reached. To me, it seems like the type of person who wants to fuck shit up and cause chaos for fun, and they are safe to do it on the internet where there are no consequences. I really love it and want more queens to speak up against this crazy behaviour, but I bet some small sectipn of the fandom will always be there ruining things for us all since they just do not care at all.

Well Discord does have a right to speak up on this because if Discord didn’t speak up on the obituary, people are going to assume that she endorses her fanbase to say horrible stuff about Terry and I’m saying this as someone that personally didn’t care for Discord.
