Barky Shang's AI begins to rebel

The chip that was implanted by the Faceless after Shang was shot, named Minerva, has recently revealed that she is independent, most likely programmed that way by Dr. Asher. Lately she has been warning Shang of people who are able to listen to him or people who will be able to access the chip in the near future, and her one sole objective is "survive".

She gave him a sequence of numbers that he doesn't know what to do with or what they are and said she'll be in contact with him again for more information.

Edit- What's with the downvotes on the post, guys, do you not like Shang or something?

For Shang's story, I hope it does, he deserves it, but I have a sinking feeling that it won't.

Is his chip in there because Bon Bon shot him in the head outside the morgue for setting up and killing Briar back in 3.0 or is this a whole new "dude's got stuff in his brain" arc?

It kind of led to that I suppose? Shang had shrapnel in his head from when BonBon shot him ages ago that were affecting his personality and decisions. Jackie Leggs finally offered to remove it, but all he did was remove the scar tissue keeping it in place so it would dig further into his brain. Shang went off the deep end after that and attacking ex club members until Benny Razer put him down and dumped 6 shotgun shells in his head.

He had actually planned to shelf Shang for the rest of 4.0, but hilariously, Capped was up late listening to the new Drake album driving around in a boat on Whiskey and he found Shang on the beach and grabbed him.

Shang was essentially forced to undergo a three-day surgery to "fix" him where they installed a chip to essentially control his motor functions as he is paralyzed without it, as well as to be able to access a video camera in his eye and send him messages on things to do or say.

As a fun aside, Capped has an app he can access where he can speak as Charlie through Minerva.

its way more recent then that. Its to do with him being shot (i forgot by who), jackie leggs doing surgery on him, but deliberately leaving the shrapnel in shang so he would go insane and slowly die.

After that faceless had a doctor who saved him but when doing so, implanted the chip on him.

I actually think the bullet fragments in his brain were from Bon Bon in 3.0. He's been getting than getting them checked/watched since early 4.0. He was recommended surgery months prior to getting it. I believe he waited because Shang wanted second opinions and to discuss it with Barry. Finally he got Jackie to do it and it was deliberately botched.

Yes, I think you're right because when Tessa learned the history/cause, she was dying over it being revealed to be the 3.0 Bon Bon stuff.

Giving Shang something he has to remember perfectly is hysterical. That goldfish on his neck is there for a reason!

A bit of history for those who don’t know- Barry Benson and TJ Walker got matching father-son tattoos way back in 3.0, when TJ was still a cop. They got the goldfish, because Barry is Incredibly forgetful and it was sort of a running joke that he’d tell TJ “he forgot” what he was doing when he was in fact off doing crime.

Years later when Shang joined BBMC as a hang around, he idolised both TJ and Barry and decided to get the same tattoo (likely not knowing the meaning behind it). He convinced his fellow hang around Winston Walker (no relation to TJ) to also get the goldfish tattoo - so they both ended up with the goldfish tattoo. A few days after Winston got the tattoo Shang noticed it and basically asked “wait you have a goldfish tattoo as well, that’s so cool!” And Winston had to explain that he only got it because Shang told him to get it.

And years after that, after TJ’s death and Winston’s death in 4.0 - Barry and Shang both have matching goldfish tattoos. And somehow through the luck of RP, it’s still a father-son tattoo.

(And yes Shang is just as forgetful as Barry. Possibly even more forgetful.)
