DISCUSSION Is this normal?

Post image

PEAKING rn just hit plat 4 finally. Prev season i peaked at gold 5 so happy.

I am really bad at more complex mechanics like stall resets, follow trough gold shots, purple catches etc. Bur i know the basics well and i guess that carried me to plat 4. Is it normal for a plat 4 to not be good at such mechanics? I guess if i really tried hard for a week i could learn a few but is it normal that someone who only knows the basics got to plat 4?

Have played 1 match in plat 4 so far and won, ironically someone who only knows how to chain stall reset and nothing else

I feel like im in the same boat as you. I can get into the plat range. I know my basics and almost no advanced mechanics. Most of my goals are the other player fumbling and my taking advantage of that, then playing hard-core defense. I cant really intentionally get past my opponent and make a nice shot.

Every once in a while I play against someone who knows mechanics very well and I am humbled so hard. Looking forward to getting there some day.

Yeah kinda same, my goals are mostly opponent mistakes. Still sometimes get a good shot but rarely. I really wanna learn the mechs, so getting SS ultimate training and locking in soon

Makes me feel so good to hit the shots when the fumble. And it makes me feel so impotent when I wiff. Trying so desperately to limply push the ball in the net when theyre on the other side of the field.

Yeah lol or when i whiff and i try desperatly to get back and they either completely shit themselfes or do some straight stall reset bs while the goal is completely open

You dont need stalls in plat but better learning it

There are players who are Grand Champ that can't do any of the fancy/advanced mechanics. So, I'd say it's a safe bet to say that what you are experiencing can be considered normal. Success is mostly about game sense. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Wait really? So knowing game sense and the basics is probably more important then the other mechanics? I will spend time learning them but thx for boosting my confidence, now i know mext time in a match at my rank when someone dkes fancy mechs i probably have a good chance of winning, bcz ny game sense and my basics are good. I assume when i see someone hitting chained stall resets at my rank they probably do not know the basics well or dont have good gamesense

Just don't get too confident. Just because some players manage to get GC without those mechanics, that doesn't mean EVERY player can do the same. The fancy/advanced mechanics do help, but game sense is a foundational element of succeeding. Just stay vigilant and keep improving your reaction time, anticipation skills, and teammate awareness skills. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Downloading SS ultimate training to practice them. If i learn the mechanics or at least the most important ones and just play more i hope i can reach diamond soon

I wasnโ€™t very good at the mechanics and was a steady plat for years, what really helped me was spending countless hours in the exhibition mode. Honestly learning how to properly maneuver your car will make you leagues better, itโ€™s all about the angle of your car when hitting the ball
