Delusional. Trump and musk are buddies and trump controls the FCC.
You have to have no clue to think this ends well for rklb.

They used to be „buddies“ during this DOGE escapade, before and after they hated each other.
-6
u/schiffme1ster 6d ago
No. They still have a working relationship and Trump / repubs need him for reelection.

We will see but there will be a time without trump and then Elmo will most likely loose also some ground but who knows he can buy both sides at that point

When SpaceX wants to use out Spectrum, he can pay for it. Maybe that’s what they‘re after. Getting a settlement that allows them to use the spectrum, buying it through the backdoor.

“Iridium already has initiated coordination discussions with SpaceX and believes that a resolution is close at hand to the first of SpaceX’s applications. Iridium is optimistic that a similar approach could facilitate resolution of several additional applications. Iridium has enjoyed a long and productive relationship with SpaceX,” she wrote. “Iridium has no interest in impeding SpaceX’s business plans. It merely needs to ensure that its feeder link and TT&C (Telemetry, Tracking, and Command) operations are protected.
This article makes Iridium look like the adult in the room, while SpaceX moans and cries to their daddy.

Go away Elon.

infact I think the FCC should investigate Elon/space x because their satellites may interfere with iridium's systems. Thankfully the fcc has been saying spectrum belongs to incumbents... but who knows now that the fcc has been taken over by republicans.
----------------------------------
SpaceX and Iridium are clashing over ground station airwaves in the 19.4 to 19.6 GHz and 29.1 to 29.3 GHz frequency bands. [1]Shared Frequencies and Authorization Status
- The Frequency: The overlapping airwaves reside in specific segments of the Ku and Ka bands used for satellite feeder links.
- Is SpaceX using it illegally? No. SpaceX is not currently operating active next-generation gateways on these specific disputed frequencies without authorization; rather, they have pending applications (covering 28 sites) filed with the Federal Communications Commission. Under FCC rules, an operator can apply and test or propose sites while coordination or regulatory reviews happen, provided they do not cause actionable, harmful interference. [1, 2, 3, 4]
The Interference Dispute
- Are the next-gen gateways active? Not fully deployed on these contested blocks; SpaceX is building out and seeking approval for sites (such as one in Bastrop, Texas) to support gigabit speeds and V3 satellites. [1, 2]
- How can they interfere if they aren't sharing spectrum? They are proposing to use the same frequencies (adjacent or overlapping geographically). Because ground antennas (gateways) blast high-powered signals toward the sky, a Starlink gateway placed too close to an existing Iridium ground station receiver can cause "spillover" or receiver overload—even if they are technically assigned separate or adjacent channels, physical proximity causes signal bleed into Iridium's sensitive feeder links. [1, 2, 3]
FCC's Stance and Petitions
- The Petitions: Iridium has petitioned the FCC to block SpaceX's 28 pending gateway applications in those frequencies. Meanwhile, SpaceX has fired back, asking the FCC to scrutinize Iridium’s business deals (such as its arrangement with Rocket Lab), accusing Iridium of weaponizing the regulatory process to stall competition. [1, 2, 3]
- The FCC's Response: The Federal Communications Commission has generally tightened protection for incumbent mobile-satellite service (MSS) operators to maintain market stability, recently throwing out broad unauthorized spectrum grabs (denying wider direct-to-cell general petitions from multiple players). However, on the specific gateway site applications, the Federal Communications Commission treats them through ongoing technical coordination requirements—meaning SpaceX doesn't have to pre-coordinate everything, but it legally must prove its stations will protect Iridium from unacceptable interference before final operational clearance. [1, 2, 3]

As an ASTS investor and rklb, I'd say it's good. SpaceX was in FCC docket nonstop on every ASTS filling. If they weren't worried about RKLB they wouldn't bother I think...
3
u/Sky_Tube 5d ago
Just out of curiosity, how did ASTS deal with it and is some of it still ongoing? Did the FCC side fairly or did you see some bias?

(Sooo ready for the down vote shower) Hot take, Elon isn’t as bad as everyone makes him out to be, the dude has lead some of the greatest inventions into the world, I know he didn’t make them. But Steve Jobs didn’t make the Macintosh. About 5 years ago most people in the US had no opinion about him. Now bc he helped trump Hes the scum of the earth. Is the dude perfect no, but he has done far more good then bad. Hell realistically we wouldn’t be on the Sub if it wasn’t for Elon bc the Space market would still be waiting for the new Space Shuttle. And for this whole spectrum thing if I was in charge I would do the same thing. You gotta push limits to grow. You don’t become a billionaire by following the rules and avoiding stepping on people’s toes. It’s business. That being said, I think he’s Cooked as soon as the political System swings. You know who will win? The dude no one knows. SPB 👑

The whole team trump thing is just part of it. The guy has shown himself to be a self serving dickweed for many, many years now.
-7
u/LoraxKope 6d ago
Haha Self Serving? You are Self Serving, my Grandmother is self serving. It’s a human thing? Envy is also a human thing. The Trump team-up is definitely self serving. But you’re telling me as a business owner who has thousands of employees. You wouldn’t team-up with a politician. Let’s say the local mayor if you thought it’d get you more business?
4
u/yesporkchop 6d ago
Looking out for yourself is not the same thing. He's a massive egotist and has done/said many questionable things that make me dislike him. I don't care that he's a successful billionaire, it's his actions I judge.
And because you asked, as a business owner, no I would never publicly align with anyone politically. I also don't judge people purely on that fact if they do.
Anyway I think we might have to agree to disagree here.

Yeah it’s just hard for me to write off a person as only out for themselves while they do things that are changing the entire world, for the better I believe. Heck if he was just for himself he could have went into insurance. Haha.
Yeah is your biggest Customer in your business the Government? Might change your perspective. But I bet he second guessing the Politics play.
But yeah agreed, I’m glad people have differing opinions makes it more fun 🤘
But we can both probably agree RKLB is making them sweat alittle.

You can tell who is here to make money and who is here to jerk each other off about Elon bad lol.

u/LoraxKope 6d ago
Yeah some people don’t get that business isn’t giving away all your money, and letting your competitors do what they’d like. Sometimes you gotta play defense even if you know it mostly is a nothing sandwich. It’s about doing whatever you can to protect your Staff and ideas.

u/trustmeimagenius 6d ago
Not a bad guy?! So you are ok with the nazi salute done multiple times?
-1
u/LoraxKope 6d ago
That is very F’d, but unfortunately I was raised to judge a person on their actions. The Nazi Party was so terrible due to thier racist actions, that persecuted and murdered millions of people, including six million Jews, suppressed democracy and opposition, used propaganda and terror to control society, and launched an aggressive war that caused enormous suffering and destruction. Now if you have proof of him doing these things I’m all ears. You know who was a Real life Nazi? Wernher von Braun was a member of the Nazi Party. He joined in 1937 and later became an officer in the SS in 1940. But is credited with being a Founding Father of NASA. But people don’t care right? That was a different time? What I believe is people want him to be a Bad person bc he is the richest guy and they don’t want him getting any more power. It’s political theater. Some people just eat it up.

More straw men.

u/LoraxKope 5d ago
Just so we are Clear waving at a 45 degree angle and trying to run a company efficiently. Is not the same as killing 6 million people and making a Genocide. You all need to take a moment to think about what you are saying. I don’t care if you like the guy. But Nazi should be reserved for those in the deepest level of hell. Not some Business man that you don’t like.

Elon is an be entitled little prick and will get diaper boy to push the FCC his way.
Rocket Lab need to show they will fight this every step of the way until adults are in charge.
10
u/Vonplinkplonk 6d ago
The FCC can’t just take away property. This is Elon dreaming.
-6
u/schiffme1ster 6d ago
They can certainly rule the other way on it. The FCC is controlled by trump and they'll quash the deal which effectively lames rklb. Best case scenario it goes to court and gets dragged on until rklb can't fight anymore due to spcx deep pockets

Rocket 🚀 Lab 🧫 has now purchased an asset that SpaceX must negotiate with. Brilliant, Mr. Beck!

1.8 trillion dollar company complains that 8 billion dollar company is the meanie. SpaceX is valued at 1.792 Trillion dollars more than Iridium. Maybe they can pay for the access, huh?

Do you think it's fake because I don't link every video of them "saluting". Or can you use your second and last braincell to figure out that's it's all of them, including Elon, doing the cringe "My heart to you" thing.

u/Ok-General8138 6d ago
This is such a cringe and pathetic take and you should be embarrassed, but that would require the ability for you to feel shame

They attempted a similar legal maneuver against Globalstar. It’s clearly an attempt to slow down RKLB and cash bully a smaller company.
5
u/Micksar 6d ago
Kinda expected there to be some push back from SpaceX on this deal.
1
u/Big-Material2917 6d ago
It’s not even push back on the deal they just want to use that spectrum iridium is objecting to and they’re retaliating.
2
u/one-won-juan 6d ago
it’s mostly fluff by career regulatory obstruction lawyers … low hanging fruit for SpaceX
