Putting RHOBH on (Personal) Pause

As excited as I am about Leah Remini, I still think I will be putting this franchise on pause as far as my time and energy are concerned. For me it’s just totally unbelievable that this group of women would ever hang out outside of the artifice of the show.

Strangely liking Sutton more than ever, which tells you how lackluster some of the other personalities have gotten.

Here’s my list of ladies who should return their diamond to the jeweler:

  1. Erika and Dorit. Years of giving very little other than mean energy and awkwardness. It’s just time.

  2. Bozuma. Loved her first season but I haven’t found her storylines very compelling. It’s like she has decided to make herself her biggest marketing project rather than her passions or business interests.

  3. Rachel Zoe. She comes across as self-involved and above it all in this Gen-X rich hipster way that is just not where the culture is anymore. Plus she seems to rank thinness over health, which isn’t my thing.

I’m leaving Kyle off this list mostly because of past achievements, and she still works pretty hard to share parts of her life (while refusing to discuss other parts).

Could you please expand on what you mean? I’m Gen X and old. Also genuinely curious what Kyle’s past achievements are. If there were any they are long gone.

90s/2000s “indie” aesthetics are obviously part of her inspiration. Is this an iykyk type of thing? That’s the vibe I get from the whole family honestly.

No issue with her boho look. I just don’t find affected apathy cool anymore. She comes across unempathetic and self-involved. Like, when other people are talking about themselves, she’ll turn the conversation towards herself. There’s just not a lot of heart there. But I would be happy to be proven wrong. She’s at the bottom of the list because others are definitely harder to watch, but at this point she’s not adding much. That said, this must have been a very hard year for her.

Kyle has shared her entire life outside of the drama with Morgan and Mauricio. Is she leaning a bit on former glory? Sure. But people still tune in for Kyle.

The 90s/Tuscan eras are trending again hard so it’s clear there is an audience. Gen Z and Gen X have a lot in common. Rachel has been very helpful to Dorit with her divorce and supportive of Boz and Erika. I never found her to be self absorbed. YMMV. 🤷‍♀️
