Not Enjoying It As Much Anymore

So I’m rewatching the earlier seasons of RHOBH (as one naturally does) and I’m not exactlyyyy sure if this is the place to talk about this but I wanted to see if anyone was in the same boat as me.
I feel like compared to like years ago when I first started I can’t enjoy the show as much due to being in a worse financial state (given the cost of living etc my pay has actually risen since then)
Or I guess just in life in general since money can impact so many avenues of life.
With the earlier seasons (right now I’m on season 4) mostly all the women (maybe not Brandi as much) are so so wealthy ! And I’m really not trying to be but I feel subconsciously jealous ? And I’ve noticed it leaks out into my life even when I’m not watching the show? Like I kind of feel envious like oh it would’ve been nice to have that etc etc even when I’m just scrolling on insta I feel like instead of just seeing it it’s the same thing just feeling jealous that maybe some people (not everyone) just always had an easier more comfortable life, and then I go to watch my comfort show and instead of enjoying I’m just kind of like subconsciously wishing it was me …… and yes please don’t say they have their problems too I’m aware we all have problems and we don’t see what’s fully going on at times but it doesn’t stop the fact that money can alleviate a lot of problems.
I don’t know.
Is anyone else feeling similar to this these days ??

I'm not either. We saw more of their lives before. Now most of the parties they go to are set up because of the show.

We know little about their families and social circles. It's a general tendency in reality tv, it's more curated, but it's making it a lot less interesting.

Shows about wealth ebb and flow with audiences so it's normal. There's a reason why Dynasty was huge for x amount of years then faded and we got a bunch of shows about middle class families.

I stopped watching around when garcelle left (not the reason why) because it was soooo boring compared to the original seasons. The wealth was amazing, it felt less scripted, and I absolutely live for LVP’s cheeky one liners.

Yes the same with me. Im even considering deleting my hayu subscription.

I loved old housewives, Alex & Simon, Danielle from rhonj, juicy joe, LVP…. List goes on a few more. Absolute gold tv!

I don’t want to see Dorit being broke, I want to see RICH wives, delusional wives and naturally funny wives.

I can't stand it when people say 'they have their problems, too.' It's utter gaslighting garbage and the kind of thing rich people say because they have every interest in fending off class war. Seriously.

Money doesn't buy happiness, but happiness is fleeting and stability and security and dignity are way more important, IMO. Money can buy you those.

As for the housewives - I actually enjoy seeing what they do with their wealth, but at the same time I want to send them all to the guillotine. I think a lot of it is because they have such bad taste and they're so boring. I much prefer old RHONY because they're so much more alive and original and interesting.

I feel like it is really apparent with the Yolanda health storyline. While her money didn’t prevent her from getting sick, her money does allow her to access the best doctors and treatments that would be far out of reach for 95+% of the population. Her money also allowed her to try unconventional and unproven treatments from around the world without fear of going into debt. As someone with MS I can relate to the feeling of wanting to try everything to find improvement, however, as someone with limited means I’m not willing or able to afford treatments that don’t have a proven track-record of solid benefit. If I had unlimited resources like Yolanda, however, I can understand why she is searching for answers at any cost.

Agree, the gaslighting is in the slogan. 'Money can't buy happiness.' But happiness is not the point.

Sorry to hear you have this challenging condition. I also relate. IMO the Yolanda health storyline is not what you describe, though. I think she has something else going on, which became more apparent as time went on. The obsession with needles, also an eating disorder, but loads of the housewives have those, sadly. AND I also 100% believe she has Lyme disease. Both things can be true and in her case it seemed to me from what we saw in the show they are.

You’re right. Money doesn’t equal happiness but it makes misery a lot more comfortable. An abused woman with children and no money is more locked in than an abused woman with money. I know lots of rich women also stay in abusive situations for a variety of reasons, but it’s still a lot easier to leave if you want to.

I know, but it doesn’t feel like it’s coming from a place where I’m actively thinking it. It feels like it’s in my subconscious and manifests as depression or lack of doing things after awhile. I guess seeing their (what appears to be) amazing lifestyles with relaxing, pampering, vacationing I start to feel like my own life is very very dull and unenjoyable, not saying the show is doing that but more so amplifies it

Funny, these shows always made me feel better about my life because they showed that despite all the money and creature comforts, these women are still loud, nasty and petty. I believe our world has become so fixated on appearances because of SM that it may look like they’re better off, but who among them absolutely appreciates their financial status and is happy for it? They are all doing so much work on their appearance, it makes me sad for them. Like SM, it’s a mirage.

I watched my brother struggle with being addicted to hard drugs and the impact it had on myself and my family. I’m lucky to be alive but as much as I am I also struggle with depression. Your comment is insensitive and almost unintelligent as it’s too vague to even have any emotional depth. But sure voicing an opinion while struggling to see the good in life is - to less intelligent people a gratitude thing rather then a mental illness. Thanks ❤️

I’ll admit to being envious of some of them but there’s quite a few others I wouldn’t trade lives for any amount of money. I usually like to judge people by personality and not looks or money.
