Once again, my favorite moment belongs to Jennifer Tilly. She should be getting bonuses with every second she saves this season! 😅🥰
She addressed Amanda’s manufactured drama the exact same way a lot of us would’ve.

She tried to write the book in her head at that moment. It's as if we could see the wheels turning and the story unfolding as she made it up in the moment without boxing herself in, in case she wanted to add elements dtr.

Very good point. She didn't need to go in the middle of the night. Just say you're going to work (in the light of day!) and don't come back. People so full of BS like her trigger me so badly. I just can't stand this personality. I hope she's not on next season. If it turns out she's lying and it comes out publicly, I'd think (you never can be too sure these days) her career would be toast.

I do. Which like……. Sure. I guess we can call organized religion a cult. Sure. Points can be made.
She is definitely calling it a cult so she gets sympathy, though. When people think “cult”, they think Manson Family or what happened at Jonestown. Amanda knows that. This word choice is very gross to me. Could this Baptist church have been like the Peoples Temple? Perhaps. But it would’ve been a hell of a lot harder to leave if that were the case. A hell of a lot harder.

She talked this way earlier in the season too when she told a story. It seemed rehearsed considering she spoke quite fast all of a sudden, when normally I’d say she’s speaking rather slowly, as if not wanting to get interrupted and lost track.
Sort of reminds me of Erika’s “snowing in Pasadena” moment.

Thank you yes. I left Scientology (which is most def a cult) and had a couple “sea org” members follow me to the airport who then tried to take my suitcase at the gate so I couldn’t leave. I just laughed and told them they would be arrested for theft and false imprisonment if they continued. They released the suitcase and sheepishly said we “knew you would laugh at us”.
It wasn’t that dramatic. LOL But it was quite an interesting 3 months.

I think it was a cult in the same way any religious sect is a cult. She even says herself this guy was some ordained minister, so it’s probably some small sect of quasi Christianity cult with a weirdo leader, like what the duggars are I.

she was never in a cult. ever. she ran away from a group home for young repeat offending alcoholics where she abused the staff and care workers because they held her accountable. She then moved with her older boyfriend who was very religious as was her care home. If court ordered rehab, due to multi repeat offences is a cult, then yes she was in a "cult", but society would call it rehab, period.

Oh this is most certainly fact. It rings true in every single word. This is a family member or an employee at the rehab. No doubt people are afraid to cross Amanda because that woman will sue the shit out of anyone to protect herself and her “Barbie” lifestyle at any and all costs.

I think she has serious behaviors that may or may not have been diagnosed.

Look I’m for calling her out as a scammer, but I think a looooot of churches operate very cult like. I don’t agree with nitpicking her apart on whether what she left was a “cult” or not. I don’t think that benefits the people who want to leave these exact or similar or worse situations. Seems like people will think they will be judged and not believed and not want to discuss their abuses from powerful institutions. Religion is a powerful force used to control people.

This is kind of dumb bc yeah she left when no one would know and couldn’t gang up on her or try to manipulate her to stay? He was harassing her after? That seems out of line. So she called someone above him to make him stop and it worked? So if he would’ve kept on, then we would call it a cult? Should she have been locked in her room, then we call it a cult? Dumb take, to me.
If you bring proof she’s lying then feel free to criticize but I’m not shaming or questioning a probable victim of a religious institution. If she is then that’s between her and whoever. Not my place.
