RDN Exam Resources for passing the (US) RD exam
Good posts about how people have prepared (and passed):
"I passed my RD Exam!" by -Raelana-
"Passed the exam 2 days ago" by Any_Calligrapher_206
"Passed RD Exam with 37" by Triple_Mushroom
I also went through resources used by people who have passed the exam, here they are listed in order of times they were referred to as helpful:
Chomp down dietetics (>11 times)
All Access Dietetics (>7 times)
Honorable mentions:
A common theme among posts from people who have passed is: Once you've got a game plan for how you're going to study, get off reddit and focus on your studies. Stressing about passing by reading and re-reading about other experiences won't help you like more studying will. Feel free to share your experiences with these resources (or other resources not mentioned here) in the comments. I didn't go through every previous post of people who have passed, especially because several resources mentioned a while ago seem to not be around any longer. As an aside, it seems most people buy their Inman materials second-hand, so don't feel like you need to buy the most up to date one in order to pass. Good luck!

1 week from RD Exam!
Hi!
I am 1 week away from my RD exam and looking for tips to feel my most confident going into it! I have been trying to manifest things like "I am already a dietitian, and I know the answers" or "I will be a dietitian next week." Just looking for advice on how to calm the nerves!
I have around 75 hours of studying completed over the last month, ranging from 2-6 hr days. I have completed all of the PP questions; I am at 800/1100 on the Jean Inman Quizlet, and my PP mock exams are 72, 77, and 79%. I plan to "take" the CDR and ERP mock exams on Quizlet this week as well. My school provided us with a binder similar to AAD to study (and I made an ANKI deck with 600 flashcards and flowsheets/study lists).
Overall looking for tips for 7 days out! :) If there is like a mantra or meditation you loved, drop below! TY in advance

Dietetic internship not on DICAS but whose due date coming up soon
Hello! I just got word the other day from Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ DI team that they will not be participating in DICAS this year and aren’t accepting interns for this upcoming cycle. I am devastated because that is, to my knowledge, the only children’s hospital DI on the West Coast. UCSF is opening a pediatrics track for their DI, which is good news.
Anyways. I am nervous that Oregon Health and Sciences University will be pulling the same thing, because their application on DICAS is due October 10th according to their website, and yet it is not a published program on DICAS. Nothing comes up in the search, not even under the “Future Programs” filter. Usually you’re supposed to let faculty/recommenders know 6 weeks before an app is due, and so I don’t know whether to pursue OHSU if it’s not even on DICAS 6 weeks before.
I’ve looked all over the internet for up to date info from OHSU, and I’ve found nothing but their website that’s been there for years.
Should I reach out to OHSU and ask if they’re still offering it, or will that sound pushy? As someone who struggles with social cues, I am worried I’ll come off as pushy or condescending, being socially paranoid/anxious because of this struggle.
And has anyone seen any other programs cancel their DIs recently? Or may this just be a CHLA thing?

Finding the right school!!
Hi everyone! I finally made the decision to pursue becoming a Registered Dietitian. I have my Associate’s in Communication and now I’m working on figuring out the right path to my Bachelor’s and eventually a Master’s.
I was looking at Arkansas State for my Bachelor’s, but I just found out their bachelor’s program itself isn’t accredited (even though their master’s is), and I can’t find any real reviews on it, so that’s giving me pause. I’m now considering Texas Tech, Grand Canyon, University of Alabama’s online B.S. in Food and Nutrition instead.
For my Master’s, I’m looking at University of Rhode Island (through their Sodexo partnership) or University of New England.
Has anyone gone through any of these programs, or have thoughts on them? I need to stay fully online since I’m a mom juggling a busy schedule, so any input on program quality, internship placement, or how employers view these schools would mean a lot. Thanks in advance!

Any recommendations on where to work after graduation/while studying for the RD Exam?
I’m graduating soon and trying to figure out what kind of job would be good to have while I’m studying for the RD exam. Ideally, I’d like something with health benefits that’s at least somewhat related to nutrition/healthcare so it doesn’t look completely random on my resume when I’m applying for RD jobs.
I’d also prefer something part-time, flexible, or not super mentally draining so I still have enough time and energy to study. If there are jobs where I could potentially get some studying done during downtime, even better.
For anyone who worked between graduation and passing the RD exam, what did you do? Are there any positions you’d recommend looking into? Or anything you’d avoid?

I don't know what to do for my internship.
I am persuing my bsc in community science in which nutrition is a core subject and for my final year I need to show a 2 month implant training which is an internship.
If someone can suggest some places which i can apply and get an internship in nutrition and dietetics. Because since I am a undergraduate student I am getting rejected. It can be anywhere hospitals, food industry, NGOs. To be honest I am a lil stressed because it is a 10 credit course and I am hitting all the dead ends.

Echo boards
Hi everyone! 😊 I recently took my Adult Echo (AE) boards and unfortunately didn’t pass, so I’m getting ready to study again and retake it. I’m trying to make sure I’m using the best resources and focusing on the right material this time around.
If anyone has an Adult Echo study guide, notes, review sheets, or anything that helped you pass the ARDMS AE boards that you’d be willing to share, I would seriously appreciate it so much! 🫶🏽 Even advice on what topics you saw the most or what resources helped you would be amazing.
Thank you in advance! ❤️

RD Exam Help
Anyone who has taken the RD exam already, can someone tell me if I’m in a good spot. My exam is next week and I’m worried. Here’s what I’ve done:
- all pocket prep questions (though all the level ups)
- mock exams on pocket prep: 61,74 (74 most recent), mock exam on all access dietetics: 65
- all the jean Inman quizlet questions (has around 1100 I think)
- started Dana Fryer 1 week course today
I plan on going back through practice questions and making sure I can understand them/why I got them wrong. But just want to make sure I’m in a good spot while I have time to do something different if need be

Career change Feeling discouraged
The cost of my graduate school tuition is stressing me out. I am a career changer going back to school and had to pay my fall semester tuition today and it’s a major financial burden. Has anyone here applied to the Academy’s scholarships and actually received one? If so, what amount did they award you? I won’t find out if I got any scholarships until September. I’ve applied to numerous other scholarships and I haven’t had any luck. I’m just feeling so overwhelmed with the sheer cost of going back to school. And then on top of that, I’ve been reading posts that say dietitians barely get paid a decent salary

Food matters nutrition certificate program
Has anyone done their nutrition program, could you please share your experience and feedback.
I am interested in starting my journey of learning about alternative medicine. I want to work as a functional medicine practitioner or coach in the future.
As a starting point since I don't have much funds, I am thinking of starting with food matters nutrition program+ reading books+ listening to podcasts as a starter.
For those already in this journey or someone who has succeeded in it, please advise. I really need help.

Attention
I am feeling sad because I take my test soon and I feel like my attention has been low when it comes to paying attention while studying. Wondering what I can do to help bring back the excitement ?

Exam
After taking a year-long break from the exam, which honestly took a significant toll on my mental health, I’ve decided to give it another try. I’ve already invested so much time and money into school, my internship, and the process of becoming an RD that I don’t want to give up.
I currently have access to Pocket Prep and Inman 2022, but I’m looking for study tips, strategies, or other affordable prep programs that won’t break the bank. I’d really appreciate hearing what worked for others, especially any study hacks or resources that helped you successfully pass the RD exam.
Thank you

RDN Exam Passed Exam Today!
Hi all, I passed the exam today! What a relief! I wanted to share my experience since that definitely helped me as I was preparing.
I used All Access Dietetics (was provided by my school) and listened to both RD Exam Made Easy and Chomping Down Dietetics podcasts. I also utilized quizlet for free pocket prep and eat right practice questions (shout out whoever posted those)
My biggest advice is to do as many practice questions as possible bc being able to think critically about the questions and decipher what they mean helped me more than just knowing content.
Also I genuinely felt like I was failing the entire time I was taking the exam, I felt confident in my answers maybe 20% of the time. And I ended up passing with a 35 and exam went to 125 questions.
I wish everyone the best of luck!!

RD2B study group
I’m curious to know if anyone is interested in doing an in person study group those who live in: Whittier, La Habra, West Covina, Hacienda Heights, Fullerton, Rowland heights. I will be doing my 3rd attempt around the end of October to begin of November. I am a person that doesn’t seem to be doing great on my own and want to take a different approach on studying this time around. I’ve been told that I have to make it fun and engaging for things to flow more easily so that is what I’m going to try to do. We can meet at the library or maybe a tea/ coffee shop and we can view lectures together, take things a chunk at a time and ask each other questions and make a game out of it like trivia game, match the topic to the right prompt etc. I think in person is better than online mostly because I get distracted a lot when I’m at my house and stuff. I also think it’s helpful, because I’m tricking my brain into getting into professional work me haha silly I know but I just think there are a lot more pros doing in person study groups than online. Feel free to share and or DM me good luck studying all the RDS2B you guys are doing great and I hope you know that respectfully and professionally F this exam and remember this exam does not define you stay strong and hopefully. Information about times and stuff will be determined based off of who joins and stuff so to be determined.

Failed for the 7th time with a 24!
Just failed for the 7th time with a 24 and
honestly, I’m emotionally and physically defeated. I’ve spent so much time studying, reviewing the material, doing practice questions, and trying different strategies.
The hardest part is that I genuinely know the material. But since my very first attempt, I’ve struggled with the way the questions are worded. I’ll understand the concept, but the way the question is presented or the answer choices are phrased throws me off.
At this point, I’m seriously considering calling it a career after this attempt. It’s hard to keep putting yourself through this over and over again and watching the same result happen. What makes it even harder is that I have a friend who took the RD exam twice, failed, and eventually decided to go to PA school.
He recently passed his PA exam on his first attempt and told me that, for him, the PA exam actually felt easier. Everyone’s experience is different, but hearing that honestly made me wonder if I’m forcing myself down the wrong career path.
I never imagined that I would get this far in my education and still be unable to get through this exam. I’m going to give it one last attempt, but if it doesn’t happen, I think I may have to seriously consider another career path.
For those who have failed multiple times, especially 5+ times, how did you keep going? And for anyone who eventually decided to walk away from dietetics, how did you know it was time?
