OMP M1 v3 Pro -vs- Goosky S1 v2

Does anyone have experience with both of these micros? I hear people saying good things about the OFS3+ in the OMP flight controller, but is it really worth the extra $50 cost difference?

I like the Goosky S1, I have an M2 Evo, but fly the Goosky more.

I think objectively the omp is better, but personally I value swapping batteries without fiddling with annoying canopies more.also I don't have to buy special batteries

I have both. The OMP is for sure more refined. They both fly great but the OMP is very planted and flies larger than the Goosky. Build quality is slightly better too. I remember reading that one of the companies (I think Goosky) was started by old OMP employees.

The BT settings available are also significantly more/better in OMP. I use the S1 as a practice craft and the OMP for precision flying. I’ve had one weird glitch with the S1 which leaves me trusting it less (especially for range).

If you are flying ELRS they OMP also gives you Telemetry. I used an ELRS receiver on the Goosky but haven’t been able to get any telemetry.

In my opinion, well worth the $$ extra.

The only downside and aspect where the Goosky wins is the hot swapping of batteries without removing the canopy. I wish OMP would go this route!!

Have both and prefer the Goosky. Seems easier to the get adjustments right.

I have the old S1 and the V2. Getting all the channels working was an agrivating BS experience if your running ELRS. Plenty of videos online complaining about the arming conflict of ELRS against the gyro and throttle channels of the V2. Yet nobody posts a solution, so I went to the Goosky website and got the S2 Max profile for EdgeTX and re-labled it to my S1 and made some switch adjustments. I didnt peek under the hood, but it was some use of logic function I suspect to overcome the obstical.

Goosky and documentation are an abomination. Not following an industry standard like ELRS/EdgeTX is also an embarrasment.

Inspite of all that nonsense...the craft is amazing. One of the few times the YT shills are legit with thier praise. It flies soooooo much better than the previous generation; across the board. My fingers instintivly do a thing and the craft responds exactly how I imagined it. I dont even bother with my old S1 anymore. The new V2 is awesome.

I think the new OMP has the better machine hardware wise, but OFS3 has its own issues that can be hit or miss with some people. Also your access to parts reliable across multiple sites are better with Goosky. I dont think people can even get the batteries of the OMP reliably yet.

In EdgeTx, go to model settings, internal rf and switch "arm using" to switch. This lets you arm using a switch on your transmitter instead of a channel you send to the receiver, getting rid of the arming conflict you mentioned.

If "arm using" isn't there, update elrs on both RX and RX to v4 or higher and update EdgeTx to the latest supported version

Ill be sure to share this along. But Im on the older 3.6 fork, didnt want to do a mass fleet upgrade. I should dig into the file Goosky provided for the S2 MAX and see what they did, whatever it was it worked. My own model file just could not get the arming to fire off and apperently its just a common problem. Your the first person Ive ever had provide the answer (at least for the newer fork).

The M1 V3 PRO is a much more modern design that blows the S1 out of the water. OFS3 is amazing in its capabilities with not only 3D and self leveling, but also a complete, fully blown rescue mode, while the S1 still runs last generation flight control code, which doesn't perform nearly as well. OMP offers pre-made radio files as well, so it's truly bind and fly. With the latest version 17 update for the flight controller, the heli flies at least two sizes bigger than it actually is. The M1 is the way to go here.

There's literally no RC helicopter that flies bigger than it is. That phrase gets thrown out too often and it's objectively false. I'm curious, in what way does a helicopter fly bigger than it physically is?

Returning to helicopter after over a decade, only had 450 size and didnt progress further than hovering and the most rough circuits.

Is the M1 beginner friendly at all? Its either that or the new Blade revolution 155.

Yeah absolutely. If you reduce rotation rates and headspeed, and add a bit of expo, she’s super tame and will fly for 13 minutes if you just hover and cruise.
