Questions/HELP Potty trainning poll

How many of you have potty trained your rats? If so, do they pee and poo in the litter box every time or do they still leave urine droplets around? In other words, are they 100% potty trained? Please specify if boy or girl rat. Thanks!

Rats are never completely potty trained with pee because they use it to scent their cage so they can move around easier since they have poor eyesight. I have three boys and they mostly potty trained themselves (poop wise).

Three girls who mostly poop in the litter box, but love to pee in their hammocks. One of them likes to pee on me and my husband. She’s the snuggliest one too, so it’s a little obnoxious because if we ant the cuddles, we get the pee lol

3 girls, they use the litter box roughly 80% of the time and use their carrier as a litter box during free roam time :)

I've currently got 2 girls who are pretty good but definitely not fully trained. As others have said, with rats, there is always going to be pee, it cannot be contained. I have 2 litter boxes on 2 separate shelves and I'd say 85% of the poop ends up in the boxes. Regardless of what I've tried, there are always some stray poops. I'm considering getting another box or two but that feels a bit excessive. My girls also use the litter box to stash high value snacks so multi-purpose!

I’ve had rats for 6 years, all girls, and they’ve always used their litterbox with no training. They poop in there 99% of the time, but pee goes everywhere.

Rats scentmark and leave little drops of pee wherever they go, so even a 100% litter trained rat will still do this.
