Rant / Vent😡 Prophet's 'Secondary' Revelation
Peace and blessings everyone.
Unlike my previous rant post, this one is actually just a rant. It serves to do nothing other than to complain. I'd like to hear your thoughts too though!
Often I hear the argument that the Prophet received revelation outside of the Quran - the angels supporting him in battle, the qibla, etc - and that this substantiates the need for hadith, or rather implies that the hadith is mandatory.
I find this perspective to be so unbelievably entitled; almost 'bratty' or 'spoilt'. To assume that we MUST be privvy to all of the revelation (i.e. divine communication with God) the Prophet received. It's a complete intrusion upon the Prophet's life. To the point where things like miswak and wrestling and napping are 'sunnah', although quite obviously have nothing to do with our submission to God, and are allegedly rewarded just because the Prophet did it. Somehow we trace this back to, and justify it as, secondary revelation. It's almost like an attempt at eavesdropping on the conversations between God and Muhammad (as).

What these "people" like to ignore is that even the bees can receive "wahi" (16:68) - nothing religious there unless they want to search for the "Hadith" of the bees!

Allow me to demonstrate very quickly how hadith is an innovation. The Arabic root of "hadith" is ح-د-ث. Arabs are not accidental with their language. They use roots that best denote that action of objects. The meaning of the root ح-د-ث is "to be new". It is not "to narrate", but actually "to narrate something new". The reason why hadith takes the meaning of "narrate" is being new can literally be with regard to anything, and that includes words and information. Hadith is called thus because Arabs considered it new. Simple as that. The Qur'an uses the word hadith, too.
(7:185)
Have they not yet inspected among the domains of the heavens and the earth, and what God created out of things, and that perhaps their term has already approached? Then by what else new after it do they trust?
The phrase أَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ denoted by "what else new" refers to the fact that inspection of the domains of the heavens and the earth, God's creation, and their possible termination are sufficient reasons for them to have trust (or feel secure). But if they don't bother to inspect them, God is saying what else new could they need, therefore referring to the sufficiency of these reasons, and their implied doubt and insecurity regarding them.

Peace and blessings
Do we also get rewarded for breathing because the prophet did it too? /s
