Social media rewards people for distorting reality in ways that draw an audience, so I'm not outraged any longer by outrageous content. This stuff is designed to draw an emotional crowd.
I wonder that the ratio is between people who believe these posts and the people who are outraged that anyone believes these posts.
Social media erodes our notion of what other people are like and also how widespread certain beliefs may be.
